The Socialist Party calls for the reactivation of motor IFELOR as tourism and commercial development (27/05/2010)

The Socialist councilor Leoncio Collado, today deplored the suspension of the implementation of the trade fair of the municipality (IFELOR) that may be operated as an engine for tourism and commercial development at this time of crisis.

Collins recalled that two years ago Councilman PP Ruiz Montalvan announced the establishment of a Permanent Forum for Development, an advisory, which would serve to analyze and promote the development of the municipality of Lorca, "and never seen again."

Therefore, the PSOE mayor requested the urgent convening of this forum to clarify in what situation is IFELOR, what is the management model used and whether there had been any assessment of Lorca's exhibition calendar.

Socialists also ask if there are proposals for the implementation of new trade fairs in the town.

Collado also expressed concern with the "lack of tone" of "many of the existing fairs" of those who said they are losing "cache and strength."

Therefore, the socialist mayor proposed several measures to revitalize this sector of the municipality.

Among them, managing the integration of the different markets in one multidisciplinary professional team in a pattern similar to that of Bilbao and Valencia, to "optimize resources."

In addition, Collins suggested the expansion of the samples, which could include aspects related to the elderly and the development of the Law Unit, renewable energy and new opportunities in the industrial sector.

The PSOE also bet by looking at Levante and Almeria regions of Guadalentín, Almanzora and Los Vélez, when fair business potential of the municipality, primarily related to domestic tourism.

To do this, stressed the need to establish policies and business strategies "common" with those areas of influence.

The Socialist politician also revealed the need to develop relations with the countries of North Africa to develop business opportunities in the fields of tourism, housing, food or related to desalination and irrigation modernization.

Finally, he requested that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lorca has the necessary "leadership" in IFELOR.
