The Aldermen of Public Safety, Environment and Sustainable Development of the City of Lorca, Belén Pérez, Melchor Morales and Francisco García respectively, participated this morning at the second meeting of the monitoring committee of Agenda 21.
It is a body that is responsible for monitoring implementation of measures aimed at improving the city and different areas of municipal administration in sustainability.
The main conclusion of the meeting held today was that the implementation of these actions has a good start, and, indeed, has advanced greatly.
Specific examples include the economic savings that is assuming for the city council's commitment to improving energy efficiency.
In this sense it has moved that the City Council will underline this trend with the installation of a large battery of control panels and lighting fixtures that will allow these lighting off and on by remote control through new applications .
This is a performance that is expected to save around € 140,000 a year with the installation of 26 control panels for lighting.
This is a project with an implementation period of 5 months and an investment of 470,000 euros.
The meeting had the participation of more than 30 groups that support the First Action Plan for Local Agenda 21.
From the city council have shown their appreciation for the comprehensive response has been the call of the Municipal Council on the Environment and Sustainability, in which more than 50 people representing 30 groups, adopted the First Action Plan for Local Agenda 21 , with which they intend to launch during 2010 and 2011 actions for a more sustainable Lorca.
