The Alamedas de la Constitución, Ramón y Cajal and Corregidor Lapuente inaugurate a new image after the renovation of more than 5,500 m2 of surface (04/05/2018)

These streets of the green lung of the center of Lorca have new trees, shrubs and plants, almost 3,500 m2 of new albero, led lights and natural stone curbs.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, along with the council of Local Development, Sandra Martinez, has supervised the last actions of the improvement works that have been executed in the Alamedas Lorca for the last five months and that have involved an intervention on more of 5,500 m2 of surface to give the best aspect to the green lung of the center of Lorca.

Specifically, it has acted in the Alameda de la Constitución, Ramón y Cajal and Corregidor Lapuente.

The first mayor recalled that "through this battery of improvements we wanted to revitalize this privileged space for our municipality that all Lorca enjoy through sports, children's games or simply to oxygenate us, as they say." Las Alamedas deserved to have with a new aspect to match the progress of the rest of the city and with these improvements is being achieved, because the intervened areas look better now than ever. "

Fulgencio Gil has indicated that "during the last five months up to six program of the Department of Local Development have intervened in this improvement in which 78,000 euros have been invested, specifically involving 40 students, 5 monitors and 8 officers of the Employment Programs Flora (gardening), Entrebarrios (rigid finishes and urbanization and assembly and maintenance of electrical equipment) and Lorca Eficiente (plumbing operations), as well as the offer of Local Public Employment "Improvement of the Urban scene".

The improvement implemented began with the demolition of curbs and foundations in the gardens, as well as the renovation of 18 scuppers.

The stone benches of Ramón y Cajal were disassembled to elevate them and place them at an appropriate height.

Almost 1.5 kilometers of natural stone curbs have been built, delimiting the pedestrian zone and the garden zone, and the entrance pavement has been replaced with cream-colored pavements to differentiate it.

In the same way the albero has been replaced in a total area of ​​almost 3,500 square meters.

As for gardening, 10 sick trees have been replaced and in poor condition by 18 new units more appropriate for the area.

Also 3,590 units of myrtus tarantina have been incorporated for hedgerow formation.

In the same way, old bushes have been pruned to remodel the planters in which 560 units of new bushes and small plants have been planted, using 34 different varieties for greater richness and diversity.

To guarantee the best state of the flora, the entire irrigation system has been renewed by installing a new irrigation control cabinet in 9 sectors with automatic programming, placing more than 2,000 linear meters of delivery hoses and more than 5,000 linear meters of tires with dropper, thus improving the distribution of water and the effectiveness of irrigation.

With regard to public lighting, the luminaires have been replaced, introducing 41 low consumption LED bulbs with which it has been possible to reduce the electricity consumption in the area by one third.

Fulgencio Gil wanted to "encourage all Lorca to enjoy this improvement of the Alameda and take advantage of this period of good temperatures that begins, but we must also insist that it is up to everyone to take care of public ornamentation so that Lorca and lorquinas we can enjoy it, that is why I appeal to enjoy the new Alameda from respect and civic awareness, avoiding destruction that both costs the municipal coffers and the state of the municipality.
