Unemployment fell in April in services, construction and industry, reaching a decline of 71 people compared to March.
The year-on-year drop rises to 292 people.
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has indicated that the new decline in unemployment that has left us as a highly positive news last April is a remarkable stimulus factor that encourages administrations and socio-economic agents to continue developing the actions and projects that they are making it possible for fewer and fewer citizens to find a job.
In any case, as long as a Lorca does not find employment we will have to continue implementing all the policies that are in our hands to help him.
Our commitment to this is unquestionable.
We are, in any case, before a very good news that we can all congratulate, and that encourages us to move forward.
The Mayor said that for the first time since 2008 unemployment has fallen from the threshold of 5,000 people, which is excellent news.
Specifically, the figures for the month of April show that there are 71 less unemployed than in March, with 4,999 people in unemployment in the municipal area today, especially in the sectors of industry, construction and services.
These figures confirm that the creation of employment in our municipality is a constant.
With respect to a year ago, the decrease is 292 people.
If we take a look back, we see that in 2016 there were 1,031 unemployed more than now, while if we extend the assessment to 2015 we see how unemployment has been reduced by 1,700 people.
Fulgencio Gil has pointed out that these figures do not have to make us relax, but, on the contrary, they have to be an incentive to continue working to make Lorca a city of employment and wealth, with movement and fully consolidated productive sectors that generate quality employment for all Lorca who want to work.
The great urban regeneration, the result of building a new Lorca, with streets, neighborhoods, deadlines and public spaces fully renovated and equipped with urban infrastructures that will serve for decades, are being noticed not only in the direct, indirect and induced generation of new jobs, but is enabling an ideal scenario to stimulate the arrival of new companies and the growth of sectors such as hotels and commerce.
We have left behind obsolete streets, poorly lit and uncomfortable, to now have new ways much more aesthetic, comfortable and modern.
