IU Lorca asks the PP to improve neighborhood participation through the Internet (09/05/2018)

Echoing the request of a neighbor user of the social network Facebook, the councilor of the United Left, Gloria Martin, has urged the councilor of Citizen Participation, Francisco Javier Pelegrin, to improve the web portal of citizen participation so that, through Internet, citizens can easily collaborate in the communication of incidents that affect them.

Martín explained that the citizen participation portals of neighboring municipalities already have "very accessible" tools, to inform their respective municipalities of issues such as lack of lighting, cleaning or maintenance on public roads, breakage of street furniture, or unhealthy in solar ... Some even offer their neighbors the possibility of downloading an APP to report incidents from their mobile devices by attaching photographs.

In addition, they publish quarterly reports that involve their inhabitants on the resolution of these, as in Águilas.

The City Council of this town also has a specific profile on Facebook for neighborhood participation.

In Totana, the councilor of the branch, Agustín Gonzalo, of the municipal group of Izquierda Unida, also has available to the inhabitants of this municipality a contact form called 'Your opinion counts', which can be done, without registration previous, suggestions and consultations.

However, in the Lorca portal, what they ask you first is to register on the web, forcing you to create an email account @ lorca.es.

For this, in addition, the citizen must fill in a form to confirm that he / she is registered in the municipal register.

The complexity of the process and the obligation to provide an excess of personal data, discourages many citizens to fill it out.

Not to mention that, from the outset, visitors to the municipality are excluded from the possibility of making suggestions.

If the neighbor follows the whole procedure, he does not even get a copy of the sent suggestion or it is forwarded to the email account with which he is obliged to register.

Therefore, Martín, has demanded that access to this tool be free, simple and without restrictions.

Martín has encouraged the local government team of the PP to "put the batteries" and modernize the tools of participation to get closer to the neighbors.
