The history of the old convent of San Francisco will star in the events that will take place in the MASS on the occasion of the Night of the Museums (15/05/2018)

A convent community, a charity hospital, Napoleonic soldiers, the Sisters of Charity, ... and always, a silent and faithful witness, a building: some stones and walls that will tell us in the first person about its history and its inhabitants

One more year the Brotherhood of Labradors, Paso Azul through the Blue Museum of Holy Week joins the extensive program of the Night of the Museums launched by the City of Lorca.

After the successes of the previous editions, this time the activities will focus on a review of the history of the emblematic building that houses the MASS, the old convent of San Francisco.

This year's visit will allow visitors to know the history of the building and its residents from its construction to date.

During the tour, guides and actors will accompany the visitor from the third floor of the museum to the ground floor of the cloister.

The tour will allow you to discover, not only the history of the building but also different elements that have remained as witnesses of the passage of time such as sundials, mural paintings ... as well as getting to know the different residents of the building up close.

A tour of the old convent of San Francisco that will take us from the Franciscan use until the Disentailment of Mendizábal in 1835;

of the hospital and its days with the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul until its current use in the 20th century, including the restoration to pay a small homage in advance to the figure of D. Emiliano Rojo for the centenary of his birth announcing the future temporary exhibition that the MASS will host in June.

In this regard, it should be noted that the doors of the museum will open from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am the following day.

In addition, at 18:30 there will be a special visit with puppets facing the youngest and at 19:30, one for people with reduced mobility and their companions.

The visits will last 45 minutes and will enter the building in groups of 30 people every 15 minutes, where a team of more than 30 people will offer a unique experience.

From the Blue Pass all the interested ones are encouraged to participate in these activities that will allow to know a unique museum in a funny way thanks to the collaboration of the blue brothers.
