The Councilor for Culture in the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, together with the director of Cineclub Paradiso, Jesús Martínez, have presented the local short film contest called "A corto distancia", which will be developed within the framework of the aforementioned projections collective tomorrow thursday 17th from 9:30 p.m. with the presence of the directors of the films to be screened.

This is the seventh edition of a show that emerged in 2012 in a circumstantial and, in principle, exclusive, following a cinematographic drive in response to the dramatic moment that the city was living.

However, and beyond the seismic theme, the years after this we find a local movement of visual creativity around the short film format that encouraged us to repeat the experience and thanks to the constant and continuous growth of this impulse, convert it into an annual reference known as A short distance.

A movement that already brings together several generations, because the thriving filmmakers in those years have joined other younger ones that keep pushing us towards this experience.

The edition for this year 2018 will present nine short films by eight authors, with incentives as remarkable as the presentation in the first time in our city of the brand new Audience Award at the Malaga Film Festival, EUSEBIO80 by Jesús Martínez, a director habitual in our program and in many national and international festivals that has achieved its best film to date with this reflection in digital animation about our future work.

And whose film will close a short pass that will open Mi primera salto, a short film by another regular from the festival, José Ruiz Montalbán.

The rest of the program maintains the high level of quality of this edition with the latest works by Dany Campos and the local production company Twin Freak, Valores, a reflection on the work ethic.

A new opportunity to see the recent productions of another excellent local producer of audiovisual, Syncroimagen, A Man of Words and Invisible War, directed by Bernardo Hernández with script by Fran J. Marber, both have already started their successful participation in festivals.

The program also includes the exclusive premiere of Contratiempo, the recent latest film by one of those new directors who are joining this brilliant group, Juan Bermúdez and who is accompanied by Pablo Natale, who presents Jardín de cenizas and Juan Albarracín, with Alex.

As a novelty, this edition incorporates the projection of the film produced by the Popular University from the film course organized by the Cultural Resources Center and directed by the renowned film director Benito Rabal, as a monitor of that course.

The movie Like ...?
