Mateos demands that medical offices in districts not be closed during the summer months (16/05/2018)

The Socialists will present a motion in the next Plenary so that neither the Mayor nor the Lorca City Council will consent to the closure of the medical offices in districts and the Rafael Méndez facilities that the Regional Government of the Popular Party plans to do during the summer months , as you have been able to know through internal sources of area III.

The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has demanded that medical offices in districts not be closed during the summer months.

The socialist leader also opposes the closure of plants in the Rafael Méndez hospital that the Regional Government usually does with the arrival of summer.

As they have learned, during the summer months the maternity plant will be moved to trauma, which will mean the closure of between 20 and 30 beds in the Lorca hospital.

To stop this "unfair measure" that the Popular Party "repeats every summer," Mateos has announced that they will present a motion to the next plenary session so that the current mayor and the Lorca City Council does not consent to the closure of offices in districts or the plants of the Lorca hospital.

For that, the PSOE will demand the support of all the parties, including the Partido Popular in Lorca, so that they can position themselves and clearly state whether or not they are in favor of leaving the residents of the districts without the possibility of accessing their general practitioner. during the summer months, as they are doing "year after year".

Mateos says it is now, in the absence of a month for the arrival of summer, when the City of Lorca has to require the Ministry of Health to take as many measures as necessary so that the closure of medical offices is not carried out in Lorca, during the months of July, August and September.

Mateos insists that the closure of clinics "is not justified" because during these months "there is no decline in population in the districts" and "diseases do not understand calendars."

The socialist leader has warned that residents of districts such as Aguaderas or La Campana are already mobilizing, collecting signatures to try to stop the closure of their offices.

Mateos noted that for years, and due to the policies of cuts in health of the Popular Party, the districts of Lorca have been suffering the closure of numerous primary care clinics, as well as the suppression of afternoon hours in many other centers during the summer months .

The spokesman of the PSOE ensures that the closure of clinics in districts and medical facilities in Rafael Méndez is due to the fact that, in this way, the Regional Government "saves" the hiring of staff to cover the losses of the usual staff for vacations.

The leader of the Lorca socialists says that this unfair measure is a "huge concern" in the citizens residing in the affected areas.

Remember that the network of parish clinics is "fundamental" to care for a population, mostly older people, who need these medical centers for such "basic and routine" issues, such as obtaining their medical prescriptions without having to carry out long and annoying displacements.

Mateos claims Gil Jódar that instead of positioning himself on the side of his party, what he has to do is stand up to his bosses in Murcia and demand, now that he is on time, to adopt the necessary measures to guarantee the basic provision for the citizens of the affected areas, because it is "unfair" to be "discriminated against according to the place where they live", he concluded.
