The municipality incorporates the route "La frontera nazarí" into its tourist offer (24/05/2018)

It is based on the successful novel "El abismo en la frontera" by writer Francisco José Motos and aims to highlight the history of conflicts and collaboration during the almost 250 years of the existence of the border between the Nasrid kingdom of Granada and the kingdom of Murcia belonging to the Crown of Castile

The Councilor for Tourism of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, the Councilor for Tourism of the City Council of Vélez Blanco, Dietmar Roth, and the writer Francisco José Motos have presented this morning the tourist-literary route "The Nazari frontier" that will start next Saturday May 26 and will visit the Castle of Lorca, Castillo de Xiquena and Velez Blanco.

Francisco Montiel pointed out that "this new tourist route, which is based on the successful novel" El abismo en la frontera "by the writer Francisco José Motos, is set in the year 1465 in the most important place, from the strategic point of view, at that time, which was none other than the Guadalentín Valley, with Lorca at the head, and the Velez region, the unique landscape and the rich heritage of this area gives great appeal to this route and aims to put in value the history of conflicts and collaboration during the almost 250 years of the existence of the border between the Nasrid kingdom of Granada and the kingdom of Murcia belonging to the Crown of Castile ".

The Councilor for Tourism has indicated that "the participants will know from the author's hand the importance of three castles along the same: Lorca, Xiquena and Vélez Banco.The historical character of Alonso Fajardo" El Bravo "and all his lineage were protagonists in numerous episodes that faced two societies marked by their respective religions: the Islamic and the Christian ".

Montiel added that "on the road we also want to give a message of coexistence and collaboration for today, in 1465, two armies faced with great ferocity in this place generating death and destruction, today two Spanish autonomous communities, Andalusia and the Region of Murcia, and two counties, the Guadalentín Valley and the Vélez, collaborate to create an offer of cultural tourism to highlight what unites us in history, traditions and gastronomy ".

The Tourism Edil has highlighted that "the route is born with a vocation for continuity and with the desire to become a benchmark of collaboration between various administrations and public bodies, as well as a way to seek cultural and tourist development." Lorca has the sponsorship Taller del Tiempo, Lorca City Council, Vélez Blanco City Council, Lorcatur SAU and Andalusian Center for Letters of the Ministry of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía and the reading clubs of Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce and Pulpí, municipalities of the province of Almería ".
