detail of Lorca

The Mayor demands that none of the investments planned for Lorca within the General Budgets of the State be altered and that water from the Tajo-Segura transfer continue to arrive (01/06/2018)

Fulgencio Gil sends a letter to the new President of the Government requesting a meeting in which to address the evolution of the municipality and its recovery after the earthquakes of 2011 and the floods of 2012, as well as the maintenance of the bonus of 50% of the IBI in 2019.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has stated that he will remain very vigilant so that both the investments that the Government of Spain is executing in our city and those already committed within the General State Budgets for this year are met despite the change in the government of the country.

We are talking about investments such as the construction of the Palace of Justice (10 million euros), the arrival of the AVE, the burying of railroad tracks as it passes through the urban area, the ongoing works for the recovery of damaged monumental heritage by earthquakes (such as the church of Santa María, in which more than one million euros are being invested), as the main examples.

The Mayor has said that the maintenance of the economic items provided for Lorca within the General State Budget can not be discussed.

This city is recovering from the destructive effects caused by the strongest natural catastrophes that Lorca has had to endure in its history.

To date, we have had the support of the different administrations, working in a coordinated manner and obtaining the special treatment required by the circumstances we are facing.

We have to point out that the Budgets include the Real Estate Tax (IBI) bonus thanks to which Lorca affected by the earthquakes only pay half of the aforementioned tax, as well as a 3 million euro agreement that we plan to allocate to better and new investments in our districts, in addition to other bonuses and items of special benefit for all.

Fulgencio Gil, who has anticipated the sending of a letter to the new President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, requesting these questions as well as the maintenance of a meeting in which to address the special circumstances in which Lorca is located.

It is about maintaining the bonus of 50% of the IBI for the next year, as well as obtaining the agreement that allows Lorca to recover the one and a half million euros that are missing to complete the refund by the State of the money that the City Council He was forced to spend to repair the different municipal buildings, seriously affected by the earthquakes of 2011.

The Mayor has stated that one of the issues that particularly concerns him is the treatment that can be dispensed from now on farmers, irrigators and ranchers of our land, which, despite being suffering one of the worst droughts in the recent history of Spain, continue generating jobs and constitute the main socio-economic engine of Lorca.

Lorca will continue to demand the water we deserve, with which we create life, wealth and hope.

For this, the maintenance of the Tajo-Segura transfer is unquestionable.

In fact the history of Lorca is the story of the struggle for water, something that we carry inside and for what we are not going to stop demanding what belongs to us.
