"My residence is a museum" was born with the aim of promoting intergenerational contact and an exchange of experiences, resources and learning between children and adults.

The Thyssen Museum, the Modern Museum of Cartagena and the Prado Museum have lent the images of their most important works to be reproduced

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, reported that this area of ​​municipal management has launched in the three residences of older people of Lorca a new project to promote intergenerational contact for the elderly and groups children and youth of our municipality.

Fátima Mínguez has indicated that "encouraging the existence of projects where several generations interact and where there is an exchange of experiences, resources and learning is one of the purposes of the Department of Family and Social Welfare, so we want to start a new intergenerational project called "My residence is a Museum" where children of different social programs will be active agents and will enable the elderly of our residences to enjoy the culture by approaching museums and converting our residences into open museums for a few days ".

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare has indicated that "more than 320 senior citizens from the Domingo Sastre, San Diego and Caser residences will participate, as well as the minors belonging to the Caixa Proinfancia program of Cepaim, Cruz Roja and Cáritas who will act as tour guides and will go dressed in a distinctive outfit, the exhibitions that will take place will be fully acclimated as there will be a poster or model of the museum that will represent the entrance to it and reproductions of the most emblematic paintings of each museum will be displayed. residence of the IMAS Domingo Sastre will become the Thyssen Museum and the guides will be the children of Cáritas, the Caser residence in the Modern Museum of Cartagena with the minors of the Red Cross and, finally, the residence of San Diego will be the Prado Museum next to the children of Cepaim. "

Mínguez added that "the activities that are going to be carried out within this project are socio-educational workshops to prepare the exhibition and its contents in which the participants of the Caixa Proinfancia Program have worked the 28/33 most important works of the chosen museum for later They are also going to carry out interactive activities with children and adults in which there will be a collective table together with the exhibitions and the open days in the residences where the most representative works of each It should be noted that the exhibition material will be included in the program of traveling exhibitions aimed at institutions for the elderly ".
