The PSOE celebrates the creation of the Municipal Catalog of Trees, achieved thanks to an initiative of the Municipal Socialist Group in the Plenary of November 2016 (11/06/2018)

The PSOE requested in the plenary session of November 2016 that the governing team of the Popular Party comply with Law 14/2016 of Monumental Trees Heritage of the Region of Murcia and address the creation of this catalog necessary to promote conservation and protection of arboreal specimens

The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, David Romera has celebrated the creation of the Municipal Catalog of Trees, achieved thanks to an initiative that the Municipal Socialist Group presented for this purpose in the plenary session last November 2016.

With that initiative, the PSOE urged the governing team of the Popular Party to the development of this catalog, in compliance with the Law 14/2016 of Monumental Trees Heritage of the Region of Murcia.

After almost two years and thanks to this request, the catalog is now a reality.

The PSOE highlights the work done in this regard by municipal workers, necessary to promote the conservation and protection of arboreal specimens of the municipality.

As already pointed out by the socialist mayor, in the municipality of Lorca there are a series of environmental and historical characteristics that have favored the existence of a great diversity of plant species that, due to their exceptional scientific, historical, cultural and social characteristics, they constitute a unique arboreal heritage, and in short, "an environmental and cultural wealth of evident public interest, so it is fair to move towards the necessary protection and conservation.

Romera assures that this first step for the cataloging of Lorca's monumental trees must go hand in hand with a long list of actions, based on the "forced individualized continued assistance" as well as the implementation of the necessary specialized care "to guarantee its survival, and the good conservation of its environment ".

Romera also remembers that there is a catalog of monumental trees that includes the Municipal General Plan of Lorca (PGOU), whose updating and complementation also considers convenient.
