IU asks the Mayor of Lorca to promote an interview of the regional president with the victims of the earthquake (11/06/2018)

Gloria Martin has also addressed by letter to the new Minister of Development, José Luis Ábalos, and the Murcian deputies of the PSOE in Congress, Pedro Saura and María González Veracruz, to ask them to adopt decisions that put an end to the ordeal suffered by those affected

The mayor of IU-Greens will send the same letter to the socialist Diego Conesa when he takes office as the new Government Delegate in Murcia

The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martin has asked the mayor of Lorca to comply, "as soon as possible" with the commitment he made last week with the IU spokesman, Pedro Sosa, and with those affected by the earthquakes in 2011 in the sense of applying "exceptional measures in a situation that is exceptional".

These include the stoppage of the processing of files and the sending of letters, as well as the implementation of a "flexible mechanism" to be able to justify the subsidies.

The Mayor assured the neighbors that he would create a commission with those affected and that he would accompany them to meet with the regional president, also Lorca Fernando López Miras.

"We are looking forward to congratulate the first mayor because he keeps his word," said Martin.

On the other hand, the mayor of IU-Greens regretted that the general director of Planning, Architecture and Housing of the Ministry of Development, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, had to wait for the PSOE is in the Government of Spain to to demand that he condone the interests of delay of the aid to those affected by the earthquake.

Martin recalled that while the regional and state administrations were in the hands of the PP, both have been "totally insensitive" to the drama that hundreds of families in Lorca are suffering to which they are being asked, seven years after the earthquakes, the reinstatement of the subsidies that were granted to them to repair their homes.

"It is paradoxical that now they demand from Sanchez's Executive what they never asked Rajoy's," said Martin, who expressed his "hope" that the new PSOE government will be "more receptive."

In that sense, the mayor of IU-Greens has addressed by letter to the new Minister of Development, José Luis Ábalos, and Murcia deputies of the PSOE in Congress, Pedro Saura and María González Veracruz, to ask them to adopt decisions to end to the ordeal suffered by those affected.

Martín will send the same letter to the socialist Diego Conesa when he takes office as the new Government Delegate in Murcia.

Martin recalled that although the aid was state and autonomous at 50%, it is "competition of the latter the return procedure."

Therefore, Fernández Lladó demanded to end the bureaucratic tangle and allow those affected to justify the subsidies through technical inspections, as made possible by the regulations.

This measure, demanded by IU for months, has not served until the moment to close "not a single file", in spite of the continuous promises of CARM and City Council.

Gloria Martín also asked her to modify the "illegal" criteria that her Department is using to reject the claims of prescription that the affected ones raise.

"The Autonomous Community must abide by the literality of the Law of Subsidies and the Decree that regulates the aid to file the files," he said.

He also reminded Fernández Lladó that the General Secretary of Development, Yolanda Muñoz, and the councilor of the earthquakes of Lorca, Saturnina Martínez, committed themselves to those affected to facilitate the whole process of justification of the aid, which included the presentation of invoices even if they were out of time.

However, the CARM is already sending payment requests through the executive branch claiming that those affected have not submitted the documentation in a timely manner.

"They did not give enough information to the victims of the earthquake in an extraordinarily complex and excessively bureaucratic procedure, and now, extemporaneously, they intend that the victims recover documentation from more than five years ago or collect invoices from construction companies that have disappeared or whose managers have died, "explained Martín.
