City Council improves Limusa's fleet of vehicles for the cleaning of pedestrian and commercial areas of the city with the acquisition of two new scrubbers (18/06/2018)

The new resources will make it possible to expand the scrubbing program carried out so far, which includes the roundabouts of the city center, the sidewalks of the San Cristóbal and San Diego neighborhoods, the nighttime entertainment area or central pedestrian routes, since its reduced dimensions are adapted to the needs of residents, merchants and hoteliers

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and the CEO of the Municipal Company Limusa, Juan Francisco Martínez, presented this morning two new scrubbers that has acquired this municipal purpose for the comprehensive cleaning of pedestrian areas and squares in every city.

Fulgencio Gil has indicated that "with the purchase of these two new scrubbers Limusa will replace two other units that have been active during the last 6 years, end of its useful life, to improve and expand the cleanliness of urban land in the city. Its acquisition will allow to implement the scouring schedule that is carried out so far, and which includes the roundabouts of the city center: Negrito, San Vicente or Virgen de la Amargura, the sidewalks of the San Cristóbal and San Diego neighborhood, the nighttime entertainment area , or central routes such as Corredera, Pío XII and Almirante Aguilar, among others ".

The Mayor of Lorca added that "likewise, thanks to its contained dimensions, just over one meter wide, can undertake sections of difficult access streets for their narrowness, both residential and commercial areas and hospitality. that the municipal company also acquired two new sweeping and scrubbing resources at the beginning of the year, destined in particular to integral cleaning in commercial areas ".

Gil stressed that "the ambitious battery of investments we are implementing will bring with it the renewal and adaptation of our services, now that we have renewed streets, we have to make a joint effort to keep them clean, and this new investment fits into that The project that we are developing among all citizens to build a new and stronger Lorca, also contemplates redouble efforts in the cleaning and treatment of the waste that we generate, so we will continue carrying out awareness campaigns in that sense, trying to eliminate uncivil behaviors that we all have in the retina, and correct other improper actions of a modern city.In parallel we are optimizing all the resources of Limusa to improve the cleanliness of our streets and the waste treatment system.

Among the most outstanding features of the machinery that is presented, it is worth mentioning the greater hydraulic pressure in the soil, a rear brush for collecting waste and its ability to reach the facade line.

Regarding the technical characteristics, there are two Comac C-130D self-propelled scrubbers equipped with four flat scrubbing brushes, with right lateral displacement and a rear cylindrical brush with post-sweep mission, whose collected waste would go to a steel drawer stainless 40 liters capacity.

This feature helps to make the finishing of the scrub more efficient.

The greater hydraulic pressure in soil gives it greater scrubbing force, although to adapt to each type of slab the pressure is adjustable from the cabin, between 130 and 180 kilos of pressure.

The water tank covers 360 liters.

At the level of occupational safety, these scrubbers are equipped with a cushioned seat with presence detector and variable cabin enclosure against incidents of weather, cold or ultraviolet radiation.

The First Edil has reported that "the municipal company has allocated in recent years two and a half million euros in machinery and vehicles primarily intended for street cleaning and waste collection, without citing the more than 12 million euros that Invested in the improvement of the Waste Management Center In recent years, 8 trucks have been purchased for the emptying of containers, the largest investment in this chapter was made in 2010 when four collection units were purchased for an amount of 1 million euros. "

In such a way, that to date of today, the Lorca have a total of 41 vehicles at their disposal for road cleaning and waste collection: 10 garbage collection teams;

5 trucks for the emptying of the selective containers (yellow, blue and green);

5 vans for street cleaning and collection of furniture, fixtures and commercial cardboard;

2 high pressure washers;

6 sweeping vehicles and another 5 scrubbing and washing;

1 beach cleaning machine and a mobile ecopark.

The rest of vehicles are destined to operations of inspection and monitoring of the services and incidents in the public road.
