The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, María Antonia García Jiménez has proposed the design and celebration of a Festival of Craft Beers in the city, in order to promote and extol the local artisanal production and as a formula to continue expanding the tourist offer Township.

For García Jiménez, the city of Lorca is "ideal" to celebrate an event of these characteristics, since few municipalities in the Region of Murcia can boast of having a producer of their own craft beers, as are the craft brewers "Colapso", Lorca brand that markets its own brands.

In addition, it emphasizes, that Lorca counts on sworn degrees for examination of tastings of beers, and it is counted in addition, with an informal association of Friends of the Beer.

In this sense, and given that other municipalities have already been "pioneers" in the Region of Murcia, such as Santomera, Totana, Murcia or Bullas, from the PSOE propose to convene in Lorca "our own Festival or Contest to expose , taste regional, national and imported beers ".

For the socialist mayor, this festival could bring with it the celebration of a series of activities and workshops around the world of beer, with talks, tastings and even a gastronomy classroom, also with live music and gastronomic proposals, for which , propose to have the Faculty of Dietetics and Nutrition that has its headquarters in the university campus of Lorca.

Besides to praise the local production, which deserves to receive the support of the municipality through initiatives like the one proposed, they seek to continue expanding the tourist offer offered by the municipality.

For García Jiménez, the councilman of Tourism of Lorca is "orphan of ideas" to open new alternatives to other tourism that is not only "seasonal."

The mayor points out that if we want to diversify our tourism offer and become more attractive, we need to explore new proposals, such as this one, in addition to continuing to reinforce existing ones.
