The 40th JDG will offer more than 70 activities between September 7 and October 12 |
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has presented the XL Sports Games Guadalentín, which will be held from September 7 to October 12 offering more than 70 sports activities, among which popular tests.
Gil stressed that "this is a very special edition of the Lorca Olympics because not every year marks four decades." In order to commemorate this anniversary and take stock of everything we have achieved, we will develop a broad cultural program during the months of June and July that will include an anthological exhibition, cinema, conferences and the edition of a magazine and a documentary ".
The First Edil stressed that "the Guadalentín Sports Games in its 40th edition will offer more than 70 sports activities of all kinds, highlighting the March Walking on Friday September 7 from the Plaza de España, Run Popular Park for Parkinson on the 9th; Traditional Games Day on the 14th, the Walking Trail on Sunday 23, Fitness Day on the 30th, the Mountain Crossing on October 6th and 7th and the Cycle-Walk on Friday the 12th. Both the inauguration and the closing will have special celebrations and many surprises. "
As for the rest of activities, Gil said that "the Lorca clubs will offer us the best tests, including basketball, handball, tennis, paddle tennis, orientation, etc ... We will also have very participatory and established activities such as Playing Athletics on the Street or Healthy Monday, as well as a new edition of the course of the University of the Sea, the VII Peñarrubia Lorca Trail or the delivery of prizes of the Creasport Contest ".
The Mayor said that "at the end of the summer we will be able to enjoy this sport festival that is unparalleled in any other Spanish town, but first we will have the cultural program that will dynamize our city during the final weeks of June and until the middle of the month of July and that will allow to celebrate the 40 years analyzing everything that happened in this time to make the Games the great celebration of the local sport ".
On Tuesday June 26 at 6 pm will be inaugurated the anthological exhibition of the Guadalentín Sports Games, which will occupy all the rooms of the Ruano Garden, as well as the garden.
This exhibition allows a retrospective of 40 years of Lorca Olympics through the posters of all editions, the commemorative shirts, the medals received by the winners, audiovisuals with historical images and sporting goods and accessories that show how the sport has changed during these four decades.
During the inauguration, the commemorative magazine edited for the event will be presented.
In almost fifty pages this complete volume makes a tour of the Games through its own protagonists.
Founders, councilors, directors, volunteers, athletes, clubs and a long list of participants share their impressions and anecdotes, all accompanied by photographs, graphic material and a complete chronology of the editions held.
This magazine will be distributed during the celebration of the cultural program.
Another initiative will be a pioneering "Cinema and Sports" series that will offer 3 movie nights in the Plaza de Calderón.
The first screening will offer the documentary "Sports Games Guadalentín: 40 years of enthusiasm and effort" on Thursday July 5;
It is a commemorative report on the 4 decades of Games made expressly for this program, with interviews, experiences and historical images that will promote the Olympics Lorca.
On Thursday, July 12, a selection of 5 short films related to sport will be screened, while Thursday 19 will close the cycle with the screening of the film "McFarland USA".
In the same way, a series of conferences will be held in Huerto Ruano itself on June 28 and July 3 and 10, all at 20 hours, and will deal with the world of sport and its influence in our municipality .
The Mayor wanted to "thank for the effort made to implement this ambitious cultural program to the Committee of the Games, to the Department of Sports, to all the people and clubs that have lent the pieces that will be exhibited and to the collaborators and sponsors: Orbitalia Tours, Zurano Intersport, Antonio Muñoz Buses, Flores y Martínez Constructions, Torrelorca Union, Murcia Hotels, Jardines Group, El Gafas Hardware, Magnetic Resonance of the Southeast, Vectoris, Lorca Waters and Limusa ".
Finally, Gil has "encouraged all Lorca to know this historical show and enjoy the magazine, documentary and film cycles and conferences with which we will commemorate this special edition of the Games that will arrive in September to put Lorca to play sports and enjoy the benefits of physical activity. "
