The PSOE councilor, Andrea Periago has asked the Mayor to order the remodeling of the environment of the Placeta de Alcolea, between the neighborhoods of San Pedro and San Lázaro.
With this call of attention that the Lorca socialists make to the Mayor and the government team of the Popular Party, they also want to highlight the need to recover the historic source that occupied the center of this emblematic placeta years ago.
According to the socialist mayor, the state that presents this environment is "totally regrettable."
The sidewalks, he says, present a very important deterioration, full of damage and potholes, as well as the asphalt itself that leaves a lot to be desired.
Andrea Periago notes that this is an area in which many of the neighbors are elderly "who need these streets are adapted to the conditions of accessibility, necessary to improve their comfort and ultimately their quality of life."
The "cherry" of the poor state of this area puts it, he adds, "the absence of the emblematic source that presided over this placeta", whose whereabouts are unknown.
The aspect of this environment "contrasts negatively" with adjacent streets that were remodeled several years ago, so "it is even more evident the need to complete the comprehensive renovation of this environment and give an aesthetic and functional continuity to the area" .
The neglect suffered by this environment is reminiscent of what happened in the area of ​​the polygon of Health and Christ the King.
The null planning that the Popular Party has done of the works in the city has returned to have as a consequence the oblivion of an area that has been left without remodeling in front of other nearby ones that were renovated.
From the PSOE want, therefore, that the Mayor respond to this "incomprehensible" oblivion and clarify why this area of ​​few square meters of action, and that could perfectly have been included in the renovation projects of adjacent streets, "was outside illogically. "The residents of the Alcolea placeta and Vicente Ruíz Llamas streets deserve to see their streets and the surroundings of their homes remodeled and in this, they insist, they will continue working from the Socialist Party.
The historical source dates back to 1861, when the drinking water of Zarzadilla de Totana arrived to supply the population, which disappeared around 1960 when the waters of Taibilla arrived.
The environment stands out for the environmental character of its buildings and its recollection.
It is a space that should be put in value as the neuralgic center of the neighborhood and connect it with the Placica Nueva and the hermitage of San Roque.
