The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, reported that the Municipal Council is going to expropriate a chain of 9 properties located in areas of difficult access in the neighborhood of San Cristóbal with the aim of widening particularly narrow streets, while removing certain buildings in a very advanced state of deterioration that had become, due to repeated incivil and vandalism attitudes, in foci of accumulation of waste.
It is a decision established by the Mayor's Office, within the work plan that has been developed in an accelerated manner during the last months in order to put Urbanism at the service of citizens.
The First Edil explained that the priority commitment that the Consistory has with the residents residing in the high areas of the neighborhood of San Cristóbal, from its aspect of urban work, is to eliminate gradually the incidents that have been detected, and that They range from security problems derived from the instability of natural elements of the area, through the expansion of streets, improved accessibility and the elimination of garbage dump foci.
Fulgencio Gil has indicated that for this purpose, at the request of the Mayor, the necessary file has been initiated to carry out the initial approval of the expropriation project, which is expected to be carried out through the joint appraisal procedure of the land, with the purpose of completing and improving the existing road, as well as obtaining green areas located in different areas of the San Cristóbal de Lorca neighborhood that will become green areas.
The Mayor has stated that these properties are located in plots classified as consolidated urban land by the General Plan, which considers isolated actions by expropriation, delimited in the land management plans that aim to obtain land.
It deals with the spaces collected urbanistically as E-13, E-15, E-17, E-27 and E-40.
In this way the neighbors of the area will be able to check how to proceed to the release for public space of 9 land parcels located in the streets Tizón, Gálvez, Cuevas de Mena, Portijico and Travesía del Segura.
It should be noted that the total budget of this expropriation amounts to € 58,531.87.
Fulgencio Gil has stressed that this new initiative, which responds to the general feeling of the residents of the neighborhood, is a new example of the City Council's commitment to improve the quality of life and the urban environment of residents in San Cristobal is firm and forceful .
We must remember that in recent years have been invested 7.5 million in street improvements in San Cristobal thanks to the investment effort of the Ministry of Development of the Regional Government.
We are talking about serious and complex projects, during the execution of which we have found the understanding of the neighbors, who are fully aware that the works were very necessary and have included mainly renovation of the pavement, replacement of services and burying of wiring, as well as installation of supply and sanitation networks, among other issues.
