The Local Development Councilor of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, reported this morning that a group of students of employment courses that has started up the Lorca Consistory has developed tasks of cleaning and removal of waste at the beach of Puntas de Calnegre.

Sandra Martínez explained that "in particular, the garbage collection tasks have been carried out by 15 beneficiaries of the course" Cleaning in open spaces and industrial facilities "developed by the Employment and Training Service (SEF) with the collaboration of the Lorca City Council. of the development of the program the students have made a small conditioning of the beaches of our municipal area so that both Lorca and those who visit us during these dates can enjoy the beaches of our coast in the best possible conditions.

The Local Development Councilor added that "3 groups of 5 people have collected more than 630 units of paper, cardboard, glass bottles, glasses, plastic cutlery, cans of soda and preserves, wooden sticks, plastic bags, plugs , cigarette butts, personal hygiene, etc. The highest percentage of waste collected corresponds to plastics and plugs, while the smallest belongs to cans of cans and glass bottles.The purpose of this collection, which joins the special operation that Limusa is developing on the Lorca littoral, is, among others, to promote the values ​​of respect for the environment and sustainability through the cleaning of our beaches and public awareness as well as commitment to the natural environment.

Martínez pointed out that "during the course of this course the beneficiaries will learn to perform cleaning tasks in open spaces and industrial facilities using the appropriate means for each space." Once finished, and after obtaining the certificate of professionalism, they will be able to develop their professional activity in public administrations or private companies belonging to the area of ​​street and industrial cleaning occupying positions as a garbage man, sweeper, sewer maintenance operator, road cleaning operator or waste collection worker. the students have 80 hours of non-working professional practices that they can carry out either in the municipal cleaning company Limusa or in private companies related to the environmental sector. "

The Local Development Council has indicated that "thanks to the employment programs that we develop from the City Council with the collaboration of the SEF, we are helping to reduce the unemployment figures in our municipality significantly, decreasing by 94 people during the last month. giving the opportunity to people who are without work to acquire some knowledge that can open them again the doors of the labor market.
