Ciudadanos Lorca presents a motion to prevent addictive behaviors to video games in children and adolescents (24/07/2018)

Citizens will present a motion for the prevention of addictive behaviors to video games at the next regular plenary session in July.

The activity of video games is socially accepted and has become a kind of leisure accessible to people of all ages, especially those based on violent behavior that confuse children who believe that such actions are the solution to their problems.

Antonio Meca defend this motion arguing that "the population most sensitive to the misuse of video games are children and adolescents who become obsessed with a parallel reality and with the main characters of this type of video game, devoting more hours than are recommended in front of a screen, affecting his day to day, interfering in his family and social life and having an impact on his performance ".

The International Catalog of Diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO) will have in 2019 a new pathology described and registered as a mental illness, when included in its next edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11): video game disorder ', which could include all those people who play addictively.

"Experts agree on the danger of the holiday season due to the availability of more leisure time for children, young people and adults," the councilor warns, increasing these addictions during the summer.

In this motion Cs Lorca is going to propose to include within municipal programs for the prevention of addictions, this type of new addiction of new technologies, summoning by the City Council some information days in schools to take prevention and protection measures putting A campaign is underway in the municipality to prevent the dangers of electronic entertainment and encourage its use for educational purposes.
