Mateos once again demands Gil Jódar to enforce health and safety regulations to give an urgent solution to the dangerous state of La Quinta (01/08/2018)

Diego José Mateos: "You can not only ask for citizen collaboration while this Mayor and his councilors remain idle allowing the environment of La Quinta has become a powder keg, full of garbage and weeds, for not meeting or enforcing safety, hygiene and public health regulations "

The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has returned to echo the concern of the residents of the environment of La Quinta and has insisted on the "urgent" need that the town council Lorca to act "immediately" to give a definitive solution to the "dangerous state" of the area that housed the old facilities of the sports club.

Mateos ensures that the situation in which this area is located is a "time bomb" in view of the accumulation of stubble, leaf litter and thickets due to abandonment.

The spokesman of the PSOE ensures that not only can be asking for citizen collaboration while this City Council does nothing to comply with or enforce regulations in terms of safety, hygiene and public health, which have led to this environment becomes a "dangerous focus of unhealthiness" whose severity "is increasing, especially with the summer months, in the face of the risk of fires, not only caused but also accidental".

Since 2015, the PSOE has been demanding "insistent" these actions so the Mayor and his team of councilmen is "perfectly aware" of this neighborhood concern.

Diego José Mateos says that what this Town Hall of Lorca has to do is demand the owner of this site, which in this case could be the SAREB, that "immediately" undertakes the necessary cleaning, clearing and conditioning actions to put an end " "to this situation.

"If the owner refuses, it is the responsibility of this City Council to act ex officio and pass the bill to the owner to assume the cost of these actions," adds Mateos.

"What this City Council can not do is continue to look the other way while this area, of wide public participation, becomes a powder keg," he says.

Mateos insists that the City Council is "responsible and co-responsible" for the state of these facilities, so he urged the Mayor and his councilors not to keep their arms crossed in the face of this "risk" situation as it is a source of unhealthiness that causes concern to the neighbors of the nearby houses as well as the users of the educational centers located in the surroundings.
