Lorca will star in the International Week of the Garden and the Sea of ​​Los Alczares (09/08/2018)

The Councilman of Tourism of the City council of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, has announced that Lorca is going to be protagonist in the XLVII International Week of the Orchard and the Sea, tourist reference regional in the summer time.

To this end, Lorca will have its own stand that will make it possible to publicize the entire tourist, cultural and gastronomic offer of the city.

Montiel recalled that "through this fair, the park of the peas huertanas, old rambla, is filled with barracks where regional handicrafts are exhibited, as well as good snacks." Throughout the week, the scenario that presides over the enclosure hosts competitions of sides panochos, trovos, a festival of folklore for children and performances of outstanding national and international folk groups.There are thousands of tourists who spend their holidays in the area and come to the Alczares year after year to participate in this fair.

The stand will be attended by tourist professionals from Lorca with a double purpose;

On the one hand they will inform about the summer activities that take place in the Castle and in the city, while on the other they will capture groups and visitors for the rest of the year, including Holy Week and the Festivities of San Clemente.

In this sense, Montiel has indicated that "information will be given on the concerts, exhibitions and other cultural activities scheduled for summer in Lorca, with special emphasis on the activities of September as the celebration of the" European Day of Jewish Culture ", as well as on the September Fair and its program of concerts and activities, Feramur, etc.".

Visits in July grow 20% over the previous year

In another order of things, the Tourist Councilor wanted to share the figures of tourist visits to Lorca during the month of July 2018 that reflect an increase of almost 20% with respect to the same month in the year 2017.

Montiel announced that "the statistical data collected during the month of July at the Tourism Office, Visitor Center and Castle indicate the visit to Lorca of 4,340 people, not counting the spectators of the concerts held at the Fortaleza del Sol. of an increase of 721 people with respect to the previous year ".

"Specifically we have visited 1,514 people of national origin, 2,069 foreigners and 757 residents of Murcia.Especially the number of foreigners who have opted to visit the City of the Sun during the summer."
