The Socialists consider that it is a unique patrimonial element and therefore, since the whole of the Castle of Lorca has been declared since 1931 "Good of Cultural Interest", they propose that the file be updated so that it is explicitly stated that the archaeological site of the Jewish quarter, and especially the Synagogue, are perfectly protected and subject to the provisions of the National and Autonomous Heritage laws.

The councilor of the Municipal Socialist Group in the City of Lorca, María Antonia García Jiménez has reiterated "the lack of ideas, and motivation to convert the Lorca Synagogue, into a tourist, cultural and heritage reference of the Region of Murcia."

Affirms that the socialist group has launched throughout this legislature various "reasoned proposals" before the gradual "demotivation" to magnify one of the greatest tourist and cultural claims that the archaeological performance, to which our city owes so much, has shown us for pride of our ladino past and the potentialization of Lorca as a melting pot of the three cultures, and asserts that all this goes through the declaration, together with the Castle of Lorca, "the declaration of the Lorca's Jewish quarter as an Asset of Cultural Interest", claims to the City of Lorca that requires the Autonomous Community of Murcia to initiate the procedures for updating the file for the inclusion in the same archaeological site of the Jewish quarter and the Lorca Synagogue.

García Jiménez recalls that today, as of last year, the PSOE called for a "greater promotion and more means" to improve the tourist product of the Castle of Lorca, and its surroundings, especially the Synagogue, reiterating another of our proposals , "the start of a new phase in the excavation of the archaeological park of the Jewish Quarter", in order to diversify the tourism product of the Castle, but also for historical, cultural information, and request the PP government team at City Hall de Lorca looking for funding for the excavations, regretting that no management has been carried out to date.

In the same way the socialist mayor shows his regret for the omission made to the proposal made last March, so that the City Council "offered Lorca as European headquarters for world conferences of the Judeo-Spanish language", taking advantage of the fact that February 2018, the Director of the Royal Academy and the President of the Association of the Spanish Language Academies, Mr. Darío Villanueva, announced the creation of the National Judeo-Spanish Academy in Israel, and that he would contact the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language and the Hispanic Jewish Foundation, as well as the creation in Lorca, of a center of studies the Sephardic or Ladino language in coordination with the Royal Spanish Academy.

On the other hand García Jiménez, again insists on the "adhesion of the Jewry of Lorca to the Network of Jewish Quarters of Spain," which the socialist group claimed on September 22, 2015, and although it was approved unanimously, still the PP has not succeeded in making the proposal fruitful.

In addition, the Socialist councilor proposes to recover the concerts of Sephardic music that were offered at the Castle during the summer, not finding reasons for the suppression of such an important event, being in 2016 the last one that was offered, by the chamber choir Elí Hoshana de Lucena, remember.
