The works of the building, located on Cava street, are at 95% execution.

The new infrastructure will host all municipal services on Equality, one of the most important being the CAVI, in addition to offering women the possibility of participating throughout the year in training, cultural and leisure activities

The Councilor for Equality of the City of Lorca, Juan Francisco Martínez, has supervised this morning the work for the completion and implementation of the Center for Women, a new equipment that is provided to the city that will be located on the street Cava and whose works are currently at 95% execution.

Juan Francisco Martinez stressed that "the creation of the new Department of Equality will mark a milestone in the care and improvement of the situation of women in the City of the Sun. This infrastructure is a space that will host all municipal services on Equality , being one of the most important the CAVI (Specialized Care Center for Women Victims of Gender Violence), in addition to offering users the possibility of participating during 12 months of the year in training and leisure activities, as well as in programs culturally aimed specifically at the female collective ".

Councilman Equality has said that with the entry into service of this infrastructure, this city makes available to all Lorca that need it, quality equipment, which offers a comprehensive service to the group, and with which Lorca it places the vanguard at the regional level in assisting women and promoting equality.

From the Municipal Executive we are fully aware of the struggle for the real achievement of gender equality, and this powerful investment is one of the clearest examples of this ".

Martínez Carrasco explained that "previously at the beginning, the work was with the concrete structure and the finished partitions divisions.

The plumbing, sanitation, air conditioning and electricity installations were in a very advanced stage of execution.

At present the works are focusing on completing the roof waterproofing and the outer hole closings, as well as all the finishes in general.

The building conserves a part of the historic façade and has a total area of ​​685 m2, which are distributed over four floors above ground and a basement below ground.

El Edil de Igualdad added that "the basement is intended for assembly hall and storage of facilities, while the rest of plants are used for reception, warehouse, 8 offices, two waiting rooms and two joint areas of jobs, one of meetings and the corresponding toilets.

In terms of endowment, the building will have furniture for the entire property;

voice and data network for 18 workstations, 32-seat conference room equipped with audiovisual and public address systems, home automation control system, climate control per room according to needs and use, alarm system, low consumption LED lighting and 5-lift stops, besides being 100% accessible ".

Juan Francisco Martínez stressed that "we are talking about an equipment that constitutes a special revulsive for the revitalization of the historic center of our city, since it is located at 13 and 14 of Calle Cava, next to the Plaza de España and few meters from the headquarters of the City Council itself, within the axis of municipal services that are located in the historic center of the city, such as the Statistics Service, the Local Tax Agency, the Municipal Archive and the Department of Tourism, Society of Information, Agriculture and Contracting, among others.

The investment made amounts to 593,643.27 euros, and we hope that, if unforeseen contingencies do not arise, it can be completed before the end of September, since only the interior patio cladding and a small area of ​​the façade remain. " .

It should be remembered that the City Council has made available to the broad associative fabric of women's collectives a network that includes nearly fifty locations so that they can develop their activity, covering both the urban case, neighborhoods and districts.
