Juan Carlos I Avenue will host the start and finish of the Run for Parkinson's popular race that will be held on Sunday September 9th within the agenda of the XL Guadalentín Sports Games (30/08/2018)

The Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, along with the Councilor for Family and Social Welfare, Fátima Mínguez, and the vice president of the Association Lorquina de Enfermos de Parkinson, ASLEP, Isabel Morales, have presented the Run for Parkinson, to be held on Sunday, September 9.

It is a popular race with a long tradition in the municipality that is part of the agenda of the XL Guadalentín Sports Games that will offer more than 60 sports activities between September 7 and October 13 throughout the municipality.

Bayonas has pointed out that "the Run for Parkinson, formerly the Popular Race of the Games, is one of the great classics of the Lorca Olympics agenda and the first great race of the course in Lorca." This year we wanted to strengthen it by taking its start and finish to Avenida Juan Carlos I, looking for a tour of the historic center of Lorca that will please the participants and that will give greater visibility to the race, but in addition to the main race, as in previous years, races will be held for riders more young people, including that of petates for children under five years of age ".

The main race, intended for runners and runners from categories of cadet to veterans will have a length of 5,300 meters and will start at 10 hours.

After leaving Las Columnas, the athletes will go up the Puente Nuevo, they will go to San Diego to go around the roundabout and go back to ascend the New Bridge and go through Juan Carlos I in all its extension.

Then the race will go through Jerónimo Santa Fe, Pérez Casas, Nogalte, Corredera, Juan de Toledo, Lope Gisbert and from the Oval will face the final straight to the finish also located in the Columns.

The next race to be held will be that of the petates, with an extension of 60 meters.

Next will take place the race destined to the categories prebenjamín and benjamín, of 1.000 meters of extension, to finalize with the one of alevín and infantile, of 1,500 meters.

As for the prizes, special medals of the XL Sports Games Guadalentín will be awarded to the first three classified in each category, special prizes to the top 3 finishers of both male and female general and trophies to the first of the Local Racing Circuit Popular, because the Run for Parkinson will be the last competition itself.

Mínguez said "the registration will cost 5 euros for the participants in the absolute race (from cadets to veterans), being free for the rest of the categories." The collection will go entirely to the Association Lorquina de Enfermos de Parkinson, ASLEP. The inscriptions can be formalized through the web www.asuspuestos.com until next September 6 at 2 pm ".

We must remember that this race is part of the national initiative Run for Parkinson that aims to give visibility to Parkinson's disease and raise funds to help people suffering from this disease.

Bayonas wanted to "encourage all the running fans of the municipality and other places in the Region of Murcia to join this test that has all the sporting attractions but also solidarity to promote a full day of sports and coexistence, completing the first weekend of Guadalentín Sports Games that will offer a wide sports agenda for all.
