IU-Lorca alerts on the fall of branches in several points of Lorca (24/09/2018)

The councilor of this training, Gloria Martin, regretted that Lorca pay 1.4 million euros a year to the company that is responsible for the maintenance of the trees in the city, "so that after having to carry out massive felling because the trees are rotten, or be in suspense in case your son drops a branch on his head while playing in the park "

The Municipal Group of United Left-Green has publicly denounced the risk to the residents of Lorca for the lack of maintenance of the green areas of the city, and has demanded that the local government of the PP to remedy this situation to prevent accidents that they can be serious

"The situation of abandonment of the trees is causing the fall of branches to the public road." Yesterday, Monday, a branch of poplar, fell together with a group of children playing in the park located next to the plaza of the Saharawi people and that they took a fright terrible ", denounced the councilor of IU, Gloria Martin.

Last week, another large branch collapsed on the sidewalk of the Alameda de la Virgen de las Huertas, a fact that was brought to the attention of the municipal department of Parks and Gardens.

On August 17, Martin also submitted a letter through the General Register of the City Council to review the state of the trees of Santa Clara Avenue, which presents a risk of landslides with danger to the safety of people.

Of all these warnings, Martín has not received "a sad acknowledgment of receipt".

The mayor of IU-Greens said that the problem lies "in the lack of pruning and care of these trees, which are left to their own devices".

In this regard, he recalled that the company awarded its maintenance, receives 1.4 million euros per year for carrying out works that "are clearly insufficient".

"Lorca pay a fortune for this service so it is not receipt that then have to carry out massive felling because the trees are rotten, or be in suspense in case your child drops a branch on his head while playing in the Park".

In this sense, Martin asked "to carry out an urgent review in the conflicting points to avoid that we have to regret a misfortune".

He also recalled that, aside from possible damage to people, the fall of branches with damage to private property such as parked vehicles can also be a serious prejudice to municipal coffers for the filing of property liability claims.
