The second deputy spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Isidro Abellán has made an appeal to the responsibility and commitment of Mayor Gil Jódar and the rest of political parties to maintain and make effective the reduction of the IBI approved by the Government of Spain.

Abellán has recalled that from the Municipal Socialist Group have repeatedly requested the PP government team a drop in the IBI for the city and the districts to compensate for the brutal rise of 10% that took place in 2016.

Without going any further, in the plenary session of October 2017, in which the Fiscal Ordinances of 2018 were debated and approved, the PSOE requested the government team to request for this year an update of the cadastral values ​​of the properties of the municipality, on having understood that its cadastral value was above the market value.

Due to our repeated requests and also to the social pressure that claimed this reduction of the contribution, in May of this year the government team asked the Ministry of Finance to apply for the municipality of Lorca the correction coefficient that would allow a 3% decrease in the cadastral value of all the buildings of Lorca, both those of the urban center and those of the districts.

In this sense, Abellán has advanced today the good news that the Government of Spain of President Pedro Sánchez, through the Ministry of Finance, has approved this reduction in the IBI for the entire municipality of Lorca, as it is published in the BOE of this past Saturday September 29.

With this measure, about 70,000 Lorca taxpayers will be saved from next year more than 600,000 euros in the contribution, thanks to the 3% drop in the cadastral values ​​of buildings throughout the municipality of Lorca, which will place them within of the average market value.

However, Abellán warns, this reduction can only be made effective if the General State Budgets finally go ahead, which a priori would be blocked by the systematic rejection of the Popular Party and Citizens in the Congress of Deputies.

Therefore, today from the PSOE de Lorca appeal to all political forces and especially the Popular Party and Citizens in Lorca, appealing directly to their responsibility, so that they are up to the task and ask their heads in Madrid to vote for please update this cadastral value and therefore, this reduction of the receipt of the contribution.

Abellán calls for these political forces to be up to the task and not give way to the disappearance of this opportunity, thanks to the joint work of this City Council and the sensitivity shown by the current Government of Spain is presented to us to make effective the reduction of the fiscal pressure suffered by Lorca, both in the city and in the districts.
