The City Council is finalizing the tender for the works to cover the Parrilla sports court, highlight the Avilés laundry and improve the passage through the river (02/10/2018)

The Governing Board will approve these interventions at their next meetings, which entail an overall investment of 108,000 euros, financed by the Neighborhood and Pedanías Plan, which was taken up by the President of the CARM, Fernando López Miras.

The councilman of Rural Development in the City of Lorca, Angel Mecca, has reported that the Municipal Council will run a chain of improvement works in different locations of our municipality thanks to the funding obtained from the Regional Government through the Works Plan in Barrio y Pedanías, resumed by the President of the CARM, the Lorca Fernando López Miras.

The councilor of Works has indicated that one of the first actions that is planned to carry out will serve to proceed to the covering of the existing sports court in the parish of Parrilla.

We are talking about a job that entails a total investment estimated at 48,000 euros.

The aim is to improve the existing installation next to the church and the social premises that serve the neighbors of the area, located in the old school site.

This work responds to the priority established by the Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, with the aim that residents in this enclave have an infrastructure in conditions to develop the most common activities without having to depend on weather variations.

In this way, and in accordance with the proposals transferred to the effect also by the neighborhood collectives of Parrilla, they will have a cover on the track in which to hold their parties, in addition to serving for the usual game of the smallest .

The municipal services are working to be able to tender the intervention in the coming weeks, so that the work can begin shortly, foreseeing its completion by the beginning of 2019.

Angel Meca said that it is also planned to proceed with the necessary work for rehabilitation and recovery for its value as an ethnographic reference and tourist claim of the facilities of the historic public laundry existing in the hamlet of Avilés.

This is a performance in which 15,000 euros will be used, and which will serve to improve its structure, enclosures, roof and drains.

The length of the pile would be at 11 meters while the width would barely reach 4 with rectangular plant.

The structure that protects it at present integrates a closed set of 4 brick walls, together with a gabled roof.

It is difficult to establish the exact temporal location of this property, but because of the information of the oral tradition of the locals we could determine that it goes back to the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century, although the current large pile and cover derives from the rehabilitations of the 20th century.

This intervention will be added to those of the Zarzadilla de Totana laundries, already executed, and to which it is planned to also materialize in the existing one in the hamlet of Torrealvilla.

The councilman of Rural Development has indicated that it is also going to tender in the coming days the remodeling and comprehensive improvement of the road belonging to the municipal road network that connects the road of La Parroquia with the Puentes marsh crossing the pass through the river Guadalentín, at the height of the spot of La Velica, which involves an investment of 45,000 euros.

The intervention by the City Council has been made possible thanks to the work developed by the City Council over several months with the aim of having the necessary authorization by the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS).

This is a complex procedure, for which municipal technicians have had to use funds, but which has finally been successfully completed.

We are talking about a work whose priority was also established by the Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, since many Lorca daily use this speed bump as an alternative to traffic communication of the aforementioned enclave.

Now it is about improving their conditions to increase the safety of the traffic, respecting the idiosyncrasy of the place, especially in the face of episodes of heavy rains, given their particular location in the riverbed.

The works, in this sense, include the improvement pavement of the step, which has a length of 310 meters by 5 wide, proceeding to its concreting and signaling, mainly through the application of a concrete slab that will act as firm.

It is a considerably harder and more resistant material against waterways, whose tender is planned to be launched in the coming weeks.

Ángel Meca has anticipated that the investment bank for the improvement of our districts will not cease, since work is already underway on the orders of the Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, in the execution of other interventions that will be included in the 3 million euros that the Government of Spain undertook to finance through an agreement in our municipality for the repair of damages caused by the 2011 earthquakes.
