The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Autonomous Community, Adela Martínez-Cachá, and the former professional cyclist Juan Zurano have inaugurated the name of the sports pavilion located in the premises of the Ros institutes. Gil pointed out that "Juan Zurano has inspired generations of Lorca athletes.Cycling is intimately linked to our city thanks to the figure of this extraordinary athlete, an example of personal improvement and also of attachment to their land, since it has always been available of his city and the promotion of Lorca's sport ".

The Juan Zurano Sports Pavilion will serve more than 20,000 students in Lorca.

The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports has stressed that "these actions demonstrate the commitment of the Government of Fernando López Miras with Lorca" and added that "the Educational Infrastructure Plan is a sign of the Community's commitment to education, one of the pillars of the future of the Region ".

The architecture of the building distinguishes two bodies: one of lower height for four dressing rooms for students and two for monitors, toilets, concierge, first aid kit, two stores for sports equipment, a boiler room and a lobby and another, 9 meters of height, which houses the sports hall where the handball, football, basketball and volleyball courts are located.

The site where the building is located is within a school campus of more than 35,000 square meters where the two institutes are built, with the total area of ​​the pavilion of 1,799 square meters.

The bidding budget amounted to 904,963 euros.

In total, the works of improvement in the IES José Ibáñez Martín and in the Francisco Ros Giner have meant an investment of six million euros, more than one million euros in the urbanization and adaptation of the common sports areas and 4,5 in the construction of the new institute and the sports pavilion.

"We are providing students and teachers with the necessary tools to develop their work and improve educational quality," said the counselor, who referred to the Educational Infrastructure Plan 2018-2019 that includes more than 20 million to undertake 116 actions in infrastructure almost all the municipalities of the Region.
