The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has claimed the remodeling of Avenida Portugal and Abenhalaj Street, after years of municipal abandonment.
The Socialist spokesman has echoed the claims of neighbors and merchants of these streets, located in the heart of Lorca, who complain about the carelessness with which both the Mayor and his councilors of the Popular Party maintain this street.
Mateos has revealed that it is a "busy" street with an "eminently commercial" character, which, judging by the "high degree of abandonment" that it presents "needs action to recover its former splendor".
Both streets present an "unfortunate" image, accumulating a "large number of damages" that deserve to be corrected.
Mateos believes that the arrangement these streets need "depends on political will" rather than on major works and important investments.
The tree that presides over the intersection of both streets denotes a total lack of maintenance.
In fact, as the neighbors themselves denounce, "the branches have long hidden one of the nearby street lamps, preventing the light on the public highway".
In addition, the parterre in which this large tree is found is "totally abandoned", with rusty fences, broken and in many cases full of dirt.
The image of this parterre is repeated in the rest of planters in the area, as well as in elements such as traffic signs, with more than twenty years old, which offers an "unfortunate" and improper image of these central streets.
In addition to actions such as the increase in street cleaning tasks or the maintenance of green areas, Mateos has proposed that the complete remodeling of both roads be included in the next urban regeneration project of Jerónimo Santa Fe.
