The PSOE denounces delays in the granting of transport aid for high school and vocational training students (10/10/2018)

María Ángeles Mazuecos demands that the Mayor accelerate as much as possible the granting of this subsidy for students of non-university post-compulsory education.

"So far this month, the students who submitted their application are having to pay the full amount of the transportation ticket to attend their schools from the districts."

The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos has denounced delays in the granting of municipal transportation aid for students of post-compulsory education, corresponding to the months of October to December of the current year 2018.

The mayor has shown that the deadline for registration and application for such assistance ended on September 29, and so far "no aid has been granted from the City."

So far this month, the students who submitted their application are having to face "entirely" the payment of the transport ticket from their districts, and we do not understand why the Popular Party does not already approve this subsidy, when this expense "will not be reimbursed to these families" as it happened last year.

Only last year, this circumstance affected 162 students distributed among the districts of Almendricos, La Escucha, Purias, Coy, Avilés, Doña Inés, La Hoya, La Parroquia, Río, Zarcilla de Ramos, La Paca and Zarzadilla de Totana.

These delays are repeated for the second year in a row, as a consequence of the change in the way of accessing these aids.

While only two years ago it was enough to present a copy of the registration of these students to prove their right to this grant "from the first day and the whole year", since last year these families must request the help "up to twice during the course, September and January ", presenting a greater amount of documentation, which delays the granting of the same.

The PSOE claims that transportation in post-compulsory education is free, and ensures that guaranteeing this benefit will be one of its government commitments, both locally and regionally.

No help for the students of the training cycles with afternoon schedules

Mazuecos has highlighted the discrimination suffered by students of the training cycles that receive their classes in the afternoon, because in some of these districts the regular transport service is not performed in the afternoon.

In this way, these students have no option to the subsidy that students enrolled in daytime enjoy.

These students generate a travel expense to their families "irremediable" because due to the bases of this help they can not access it for the simple fact that their cycle is being taught at another time.

The PSOE requests the repair of the entrance of the CEIP of the Zarcilla de Ramos

During the day yesterday, the PSOE echoed the danger faced by boys and girls of the Zarcilla de Ramos to access their school, after the heavy rains that occurred there.

The parents of these students have been asking for the settlement of this ticket for years, while the City Council of Lorca and the Autonomous Community throw the ball "to each other".

Each time it rains, a large amount of water accumulates, making normal access to the center difficult.
