After almost a decade of absence in the agenda of the Guadalentín Sports Games, judo returned on Wednesday afternoon to be present in the program of the Lorca Olympics.
And he did it for a more than special reason: to give a sincere and well deserved posthumous tribute to Serafín Piñeiro Martínez, athlete and precursor teacher of the practice and teaching of judo in our municipality.
The Felipe VI Sports Complex hosted the day organized by the Association of Friends of Judo de Lorca, which, in the form of an exhibition, began at 7:30 p.m.
In the first place the Lorca judokas of all ages, almost fifty, showed their level through the exhibition;
Exercises, movements and katas were part of this master class in the form of an exhibition with which teachers and initiates shared tatami.
But the objective of this day was to pay homage to Serafín Piñeiro.
Therefore, at the end of the exhibition the Friends of Judo wanted to remember the athlete, judoka, sportsman, historical secondary teacher of the IES Ros Giner and teacher, precursor and diffuser of Judo in the municipality, Serafin Piñeiro Martinez, disappeared in 2016 to the early 66 years old
From the Association was given to his widow, Mari Carmen Gallardo, and his four grandchildren a plaque highlighting the merits of the teacher, as well as a commemorative poster of this exhibition that allowed to vindicate his figure from the sport that he practiced so much, gathering for it to friends who will always remember the unforgettable Serafin.
