The Mayor orders the establishment of a special device that remains alert to the notice of heavy rains transferred by the State Meteorological Agency (18/10/2018)

Local Police, Municipal Emergency Service, electrical service, Social Welfare, Town Planning and other Consistory resources will remain mobilized during the next hours to respond to any eventuality.

The councilman of Emergencies in the City council of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, has informed that the Mayor of the city, Fulgencio Gil, has ordered the establishment of a special device on the part of the Municipal Consistory that includes officials, technicians and volunteers of different services in order to be warned in case it is necessary to proceed with the activation of the Inunlor Plan, to respond to episodes of heavy rainfall.

The mayor of Emergencies has made an appeal to the public so that throughout the next hours, especially from the afternoon of tomorrow Friday and the day of Saturday, extreme all possible precautions taking into account the statement that has been sent by part of the State Meteorological Agency in relation to the high possibility of registering very strong and persistent rainfall in the peninsular Mediterranean slope.

We are talking about a situation that will last until next Sunday, with a probability of 80%.

Bayonas Lopez has said that the mayor, in view of the provisions that are being handled, has ordered all municipal services, Local Police, electric power seals, Aguas de Lorca, Limusa, Urban Planning, Department of Social Welfare and Municipal Emergency Service, between others, that remain alert to attend to any incident that may arise.

From the City Council we insist that in case of any eventuality that you want to move, all citizens have at their disposal the 112 integral attention telephone.

The current meteorological situation has been generated by a marked wet and unstable flow, the result of the union of two storms, one that evolves from the Mediterranean Sea and another from the Atlantic Ocean.

This situation will lead to heavy, persistent and stormy rainfall, producing accumulations that may exceed 100 mm or even 200 mm in 12 hours.

The Atlantic storm has entered the southwest and south of the peninsula, at the same time as the Mediterranean storm is approaching the Balearic Islands.

On Saturday 20, the storm will move to the southwest, placing the highest probability of strong and persistent precipitation still in the Valencian Community and with greater intensity in the Region of Murcia and the Mediterranean area of Andalusia, where they could be very strong.

As of Sunday, day 21, the most probable situation is that the situation tends to subside, with the displacement of the storm to the west of the Peninsula, although there is considerable uncertainty as to its trajectory.

It is more likely that the rains, which are less intense, will mainly affect the southern half of the peninsula, especially in the southeast and southwest.

It should be noted that AEMET will issue a new Special Notice tomorrow, Friday 19th, and recommends a more detailed and updated monitoring of this atmospheric situation through its predictions and warnings of adverse phenomena.
