detail of Lorca

"Spacewalker", "Borg-McEnroe", one of the best roles of Charlize Theron and the last one of Dean Stanton, among the screenings of the Cineclub Paradiso for this quarter (25/10/2018)

The Australian film "Babadook", a horror film unknown, can be seen on day 31 at 9 o'clock at night to celebrate Halloween, while on the occasion of the International Day against gender violence will be screened "Shared custody".

The cycle takes place having as stage the War Theater.

The councilman of Culture in the City council of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, next to the director of the Cineclub Paradiso, Jesus Martinez, has presented this morning the programming of projections that has been designed for the last quarter of the year.

Faithful to our appointment with the cinematic fall.

As it is becoming customary, we begin the program coinciding with the eve of All Saints' Day, what many of us already only know as Halloween, although we like Dia de los Deusos the most.

From the Cineclub we consider that you can also participate in this celebration with a good cultural offer, and that the horror, fantastic and suspense cinema offers quality options that can satisfy a public devoted to this genre and another open simply to the good movies that do not fear strong emotions.

Llamas Gómez has stated that many excellent horror films do not reach the commercial billboards that either can not absorb so much supply or do not dare with titles.

This is the case of the film with which we start programming on October 31, in a single pass at 9:00 p.m.: "Babadook".

An unknown jewel of Australian cinema directed by a woman, Jennifer Kent, which has already been considered one of the best works of its kind in the last century.

And that marks Wednesday as a reference day because this will be the day in which the rest of the programming will be developed.

On Wednesday, November 7, we regularly started the two sessions (6:30 pm and 10:00 pm) with "Tully", an emotional and realistic analysis of motherhood written by one of the North American star writers, Diablo Cody, and directed by Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the air, Young adults), with an incommensurable Charlize Theron in one of those "ugly" papers that get him the Oscars that deny him for all others, also deserved.

With special attention and interest is expected the double session of the following Wednesday, November 14: 6:30 pm for "Cairo confidential", a recent jewel of black cinema with oriental ambience but under the classic forms of the genre, and 22:00 h for "Lover for a day", an emotional meditation on love and jealousy, shot in an exquisite black and white by one of the few film-making directors today, Philippe Garrel, with superb interpretations of everything their cast, they need to follow them with their own voices.

In fact, the film can be enjoyed in its original version in French, with subtitles.

On Wednesday, November 28, we joined the activities planned by the Department of Equality to remind Lorca that November 25 is the International Day against gender violence, and to contribute to raising awareness among citizens about this burning issue we have selected the screening of the film "Custodia compartida", a film written and directed so as not to leave anyone indifferent to this issue in today's society.

In December, on Wednesday the 5th, one of the surprises and highlights of the program: "Spacewalker", a spectacular Russian film about the first steps of man in the conquest of space, shot from the point of view of one of the protagonists major in this milestone of humanity, the Soviet Union.

On Wednesday, December 12, it has been reserved for another highlight: "Borg-McEnroe", an exciting analysis of the grand final at Wimbledon that confronted these two icons of tennis, as well as their own personalities, which has been already considered one of the few masterpieces that cinema has given about sport.

We finished the program on Wednesday, December 19 with a posthumous tribute to one of our favorite actors, Harry Dean Stanton, showing "Lucky", a film made entirely for him and for his brilliance, to which he would respond with a memorable performance that will remain as an insurmountable artistic testament of one of the great actors of our era.
