The PSOE requires the Regional Government to install "immediately" an MRI service at the Rafael Méndez de Lorca hospital (26/10/2018)

The deputy spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Marisol Sánchez Jódar has demanded the "immediate" installation of the mammograph, the CAT and the magnetic resonance team that the Amancio Ortega Foundation donated to the Autonomous Community to equip these teams with the Murcian Service of Health and, specifically, to the Rafael Méndez hospital.

Sánchez Jódar has denounced the "shameful delay" that the Regional Government has shown towards this issue.

"Nor giving them the equipment have been able in a year and a half to install them, with the lack they make."

In fact, the mayor has shown that, a year after this donation, the agreement had to be extended due to the risk of losing this donation due to the inability of the Regional Government of the Popular Party to start up these teams. "

In the absence of a month to expire the extension period granted for the installation of these equipment, the mayor urged the Regional Government to accelerate the acquisition and implementation of the same, whose works are currently in the tender phase.

At the same time, Sánchez Jódar has demanded that the acquisition of these diagnostic equipment be accompanied by the hiring of the necessary personnel.

Otherwise, "without health personnel assigned to these units it will be impossible for the machines to perform their function".

In this sense, Marisol Sánchez recalled that, already last summer, the manager of area III, Mrs. Catalina Lorenzo, acknowledged having "serious problems" in Rafael Méndez due to the lack of radiologists.

"Today, Rafael Mendez has the same, and insufficient, number of radiologists that last summer, so they will have to clarify how they plan to put these devices at the end of the year if they do not hire new staff."

The mayor has insisted that both the installation of these teams and the hiring of new person is "essential" to the serious situation that presents the Lorca hospital due to lack of resources.

"The Popular Party, with its cuts, has converted Rafael Méndez into a field hospital."

In the absence of the necessary equipment, patients of Rafael Méndez are forced to perform an "authentic tour" by hospitals throughout the Region for the performance of diagnostic tests.

In fact, so much so, that area III is still the second area that spends the most in health concerts with other hospitals in the Region, with more than 10 million euros.

Sánchez Jódar has announced that they are going to demand that the Regional Minister of Health respond to the Regional Assembly about the reasons why the acquisition of these devices has been delayed, which in June 2017 the Amancio Ortega Foundation donated to the Murcian Health Service.

In addition, these and other problems will be addressed in the plenary session on health that the PSOE has forced thanks to the signature of its eight councilors.
