The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has reported that our municipality will soon receive the amount of € 4,248,613.69 from different projects that were funded through the European Fund for Regional Development (FEDER).
This is an example of good management by the Consistory whose immediate consequence will be the drastic reduction of the deficit that had accumulated in the municipal accounts, which will be a decisive step forward for the City Council to have the opportunity to get rid of the Adjustment Plan to the one who was subjected by the unfairness inherited from previous administrations.
We are talking about a real milestone that has been achieved thanks to the rigorous work carried out by all areas of municipal management over the past few years.
Fulgencio Gil has indicated that these amounts are framed in different municipal actions included in the period 2007-2013 for which it was managed to obtain economic allocations from within the European Union.
These projects, as relevant, have been subject to their corresponding audits, passed in a positive manner, ratifying the good work that has been carried out both to access these aids, and in the development of their execution.

Fulgencio Gil has indicated that it is an excellent news that constitutes a remarkable boost for the economic health of the City Council, and that it serves as a stimulus to continue with the orderly and serious management of municipal resources.
In fact, we must point out that the economic amount that was initially allocated from the EU for the execution of these projects in our city was 19,481,956 euros, and that was foreseen as of December 31, 2015 in the Operational Program Feder of Murcia.
However, we have finally got Lorca 22,758,331.84 €, 3.27 million euros more than initially established.
This is stated in the document Communication of aid to the closure of the Operational Program FEDER of Murcia 2007-2013, which has been sent to the Consistory from the Directorate General of European Funds, dependent on the Secretary of State for Budgets and Expenditures of the Ministry of Finance.
The Mayor has explained that these 3.27 million euros that have been achieved over what was planned for our municipality have been achieved by demonstrating the existence of over-execution, mainly in the works included in the Urban Initiative for the High Districts , an area in which the City Council had executed other improvement projects.
Therefore, we requested that we be assigned possible remnants of European funds from other municipalities that had not executed 100% of the allocated amount, getting for Lorca a total of 1.7 million, a figure to which we must add the 5% it is retained as a guarantor of each project (€ 900,000), and to add another series of axis 2 projects whose financing was planned for private organizations and which has finally been divided among public administrations, increasing the percentage of funding initially foreseen for the projects. performances in Lorca.
