Gloria Martín, the councilor for Izquierda Unida-Verdes de Lorca and spokesperson for the Platform affected by the return of aid for the earthquakes in Lorca, has announced the end of the closure that, for eight days, the victims of the earthquakes have been leading in the City Hall of Lorca.
Those affected, gathered in assembly, have unanimously shown their agreement to the document signed by the Development Counselor, Patricio Valverde, which includes the commitments adopted by him, as well as the compliance calendar.
Thus, before five months, the regional government will give compliance to all files that have submitted the simplified account established by Law 8/2018 as a means to justify the use of aid in the repair works of damaged homes .
For this, the regional government and the City Council will immediately increase the human resources necessary to complete these justification procedures.
For its part, the Tax Agency has already withdrawn the requests for enforcement of the files to which the provisions of that law apply and which were threatened with an imminent embargo.
The mayor of IU-Greens has reported that it will also solve the problem that affects the neighbors who received both compensation from the Insurance Compensation Consortium as public aid.
The law establishes that both concepts are compatible, provided that the sum of both amounts does not exceed the "real cost" of the works.
This will finally be the accepted criterion, after the regional government has understood that those affected have not had access to the report of the CARM experts and that they were never informed by letter of the concrete reparations they had to carry out.
"If it can be shown that the works cost more than the sum of these two concepts, it can be justified," said Martín.
On the prescription, "finally the legal services of the CARM are going to be able to establish their criteria, which we have asked to be the one that, according to the Law, is more beneficial for the administered", explained the mayor of IU-Verdes.
Martín recalled that all those affected who have not yet done so, must request a municipal technical inspection to prove that they used the aid money in the rehabilitation of their homes.
Also those who already returned the money, because the new law will also be applicable to them and that is another of the commitments taken from the Administration.
Said technical report should be complemented with the simplified memory.
To process all this documentation, neighbors can go to the Office of the Earthquake and also to the office of IU-Green in the Town Hall, where this Municipal Group, which has already written more than 1,500 allegations, replacement resources and justifying memories, "will continue attending to each and every one of those affected who need it, "said Martín.
Finally, both Gloria Martin and the spokesman of the Municipal Group of IU-Greens, Pedro Sosa, thanked the citizens for the trust placed in their training to coordinate the actions that have been carried out until reaching the agreement.
"Something that would never have been possible without the lesson of unity, determination and dignity that our neighbors have given before the whole country."
