The PSOE again raises to the Ombudsman the complaints of health users for the "illegal" waiting lists in Rafael Méndez (13/11/2018)

The PSOE of Lorca begins an information campaign by neighborhoods and districts to advise neighbors how to claim waiting lists and help them exercise their rights as users of public health, to curb the asymmetry and inequality between health areas in the same Autonomous Community.

The Ombudsman has reopened proceedings with the Murcian Health Service, requesting a new report in which those services of area III are specified in which the maximum time limit established by law for external consultations is exceeded, as well as the average times that they correspond to each one of the specialties and the measures to be adopted for the improvement of primary care in Lorca.

In this way, the PSOE maintains its pressure through the Ombudsman to solve the serious shortcomings of area III that continue to result in the hospital Rafael Méndez de Lorca present the largest waiting lists in the entire Region of Murcia.

This is again evident after the recently published data, related to the third quarter of the year.

Area III of health continues to be the area with the largest number of patients without an assigned date for the first specialist visit, going from 6,750 patients in June to 7,880, according to October data, which represents 43.12% of the entire Region. (18.274).

Specifically, 1,130 people entered this "limbo" of patients waiting without an appointment, in breach of current legislation that states that "no patient should be left out of the agenda when an appointment is requested."

Regarding the waiting times for the first consultation, on average, it goes from 96.91 to 104.20 days.

The increase in the number of "undated" patients, which in the Rafael Méndez reaches 7,880 "contrasts" with those that have hospitals such as Reina Sofía, in Murcia, or the Northwest, in Caravaca, where the number of patients without appointment is 0 and 3, respectively.

"What is happening so that in Lorca about 8,000 people are waiting for an appointment, and in other places in the Region, there is hardly any patient waiting for a consultation with a specialist."

By specialty, October reflected a new increase in waiting times compared to the previous quarter in the areas of dermatology (Dermatology (178.13), Pulmonology (113.30), Urology (96.39), Traumatology (87.30). ; Cardiology (86,15), General Surgery (67,15), Gynecology (63,84), Ophthalmology (59,68), Otorhino (27,48), Hematology (20,37), Internal Medicine (4,44), and Nephrology (4,25).

The case of dermatology is the most "bleeding", because it ensures that although the PP is determined to ensure that they have improved waiting lists, in this specialty "is impossible" because now, and for months, "there is no a dermatologist consulting Rafael Méndez. "

As for waiting for tests and diagnostic techniques, the average waiting time also increases.

In addition, area III remains the area with the highest number of patients without a date, with a total of 7,405 people waiting without an appointment, 24.2% of the entire Region.

Specifically, 400 more than the previous year, and up to 1,100 users more than in 2016.

This data, he says, "is the direct consequence of the serious shortcomings that Rafael Méndez presents in terms of equipment and personnel assigned, as has been denounced by the PSOE in recent years."

Regarding the data in the waits for surgical intervention, waiting times are still "higher" compared to the month of June.

Specifically, the second quarter reflected an average wait of 55.02 days while in October, the data recorded a new rise, reaching 64.50 days.

In addition, of the nine operating rooms in Rafael Méndez, usually only six can be used, due to the lack of anesthetists.

Informative campaign for neighborhoods and districts to help claim for the advancement of appointments

The PSOE is going to start an information campaign for neighborhoods and districts to inform neighbors about "how to claim to achieve an advance in your medical appointment."

After the successful participation achieved with the informative talk held last week at the Cultural Center of the city which was attended by more than 200 people, and with which several users of Rafael Méndez have already managed to assert their rights to streamline their times waiting, the PSOE will tour the municipality to advise residents on the waiting list of health.

Specifically, the PSOE insists that users can avail themselves of the current regional legislation that regulates the maximum waiting periods as well as the medical agendas.

Specifically, as the mayor warns, in area III, most of the established legal limits are exceeded, so that citizens "have the right to complain".

Sánchez Jódar has insisted on the importance of citizens knowing the deadlines to which, by law and on the basis of Decree 25/2006, can be accepted to be served in any health center of the Murcian Health Service.

In particular, remember, patients should not wait more than 30 days for a diagnostic test;

50 days for first consultation with the specialist, or 150 days for a surgical intervention.

Regarding patients "without date", the mayor recalled that according to the Resolution of the Managing Director of the Murcian Health Service approving instruction No. 1/2018, on improving patient care continuity between primary care and hospital care "no patient should be left out of the agenda when an appointment is requested, both for first consultations and for successive and complementary tests, and the agendas must be open permanently."

However, only in health area III the number of patients without a specialist date reaches 7,880, and 7,405 for diagnostic tests.

The Popular Party confirms its lack of scruples, hiding and making up data to hide a new rise of the waiting lists in Rafael Méndez

Sánchez Jódar has ensured that the data made public by the Ministry of Health on health waiting lists, related to the third quarter of the year, are "the data of shame."

The mayor wonders "what face they can boast of in the People's Party of health management, when October reflects a new rise in waiting times in different health services as well as the number of patients waiting without appointment assigned."

Sánchez Jódar says it is "shameful" that the Regional Government of the Popular Party lies shamelessly without caring that, with his lies, what he is doing is playing with health and with the concern of users of health area III.

"Behind their data there is a reality: the deterioration of public health, the dismantling of Rafael Méndez, the asymmetry between areas and discrimination towards area III, the concern and unrest of users and the saturation of health professionals" .
