The campaign to increase and improve green areas and gardens in the municipality has included the planting of 2,043 trees and 2,992 shrubs since September (14/11/2018)

The average cost per shrub in the market is € 6 unit, amounting to € 17,952 the investment saved by Lorca thanks to the good management that has been achieved by the management developed in the municipal nurseries of La Torrecilla.

The Councilor for Parks and Gardens of the City of Lorca, Angel Mecca, has reported that throughout this year the City Council has proceeded to plant 2,043 trees and 2,992 bushes produced in municipal nurseries.

These are the main actions developed within the line of work established by the Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, with the aim of enhancing the green areas, gardens and public leisure areas offered by our municipality.

Ángel Meca stressed that during the year 2018, regarding the shrubs produced by the municipal nurseries, the type species produced correspond to spices typical of our region, as is the case of lavender, thyme, echium, ruellia, dianella, eremophila, Felicia, juniperus, tradescantia, acanthus, berberis, crassula, dimorphoteca, agapanthus ... reaching a total of about 150 different species, whose distribution includes areas such as San José School, Ronda Sur, Las Alamedas area, Andrés García Soler school , Alfonso X School, Domingo Munuera Rico Square, Music Conservatory "Narciso Yepes", medieval wall, José Ibáñez Martin Institute, Plaza de la Bordadora, Azaleas street, San Fernando district roundabout, Purias Institute "Sierra de Almenara", Torre del Obispo, San Roque, Cabezo de Las Palas, San Jose Park, Alfonso X Neighborhood, La Mujer Park, Diego Pallares Pediatric Pediatric Park, Rotonda Hue

The mayor of Parks and Gardens has highlighted that the average cost per shrub in the market is € 6 unit, amounting to € 17,952 the investment saved by Lorca thanks to the good management that has been achieved by the management developed in the existing municipal nurseries in La Torrecilla.

Angel Meca has indicated, regarding the implementation and improvement of new trees, that since September is underway which is probably the biggest commitment to increase the number of trees in our green areas in the recent history of our municipality .

Thus, according to the data provided by our technical services, since the end of the summer a total of 2,043 trees have been planted, of which 800 pine trees (pinus halepensis), 600 olive trees, have been placed on the slopes of the castle. 300 mastic trees and 300 tetraclinis, while in the park of Casa Mata 7 brachynchitos, 1 ficus, 1 delonix and 1 lagoon have been planted.
