Ayuntamiento and Esamur place the Lorca water treatment plant as a regional pioneer (15/11/2018)

An investment of € 670,576.50 has been executed, including new recirculation of stage B, better control of disinfection, new deodorization system, improvement of agitation of stage A and sieving of sludge to centrifuges.

The delegated councilor of Waters in the City council of Lorca, Francisco Garci'a, next to the Managing Director of the Entity of Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment of the Region of Murcia, ESAMUR, they have supervised in the morning of today the work that is developed in the La Hoya treatment plant, a plant with a treatment capacity of 20,000 m3 / day, with an average flow that currently treats about 9,100 m3 / day.

The most important and most interesting, seeking an energy optimization, are the installation of a new magnetic levitation blower, equipment of the latest technology and with the best electrical efficiency of the market, and the other, and more interesting, is the installation of the first two microturbines that will be implemented in this type of plant in a pioneering manner at the regional level, incorporating selected equipment to optimize the current flow of biogas, maximizing the production of electrical energy that makes these facilities self-sufficient energy, reducing network consumption and obtaining a global ratio per m3 treated even lower.

The total amount of the innovations that have been executed amounts to € 670,576.50, including extraordinary improvements, proposed progress and new projects.

We are talking about facilities that over the past year faced the treatment of 3,320,651 m3, which were used entirely for irrigation.

The treatment plant has a double stage treatment line, a treatment modality that allows to treat in depth and excellent results wastewater with a high percentage of different waste.

It has a sludge digestion line that has a double objective;

On the one hand, reduce the amount of sludge produced and, on the other hand, produce biogas to generate electricity that is used for self-consumption of the facilities themselves.

The Lorca plant also carries out a tertiary treatment, based on the application of elements and resources of physical-chemical origin, lamellar decantation, filtration through open sand filters and mixed UV disinfection plus hypochlorite.

The visit made it possible to complete the tasks of checking and monitoring the improvements included in the minutes of the commission monitoring the agreement with the two public entities.

The most important improvements that have been included in this agreement have been mainly the following:

- New recirculation of stage B.

- Better control of disinfection by sodium hypochlorite.

- New deodorization system.

- Improvement of the agitation of stage A.

- Sifting of sludge to centrifuges.
