The Councilor for Health and Consumption in the City of Lorca, María del Carmen Ruiz, reported that the Municipal Council unanimously approved in the plenary session held this morning a proposal of this Government Team demanding the Ministry of Health the establishment of exceptional measures with immediate effect for the reduction of the waiting lists existing in external consultations and diagnostic tests, as well as the increase in investments, human resources and portfolio of primary care services, hospital and emergency services extrahospitalarios.
The Edil de Sanidad has indicated that, although progress has been made in reducing the surgical waiting list (which is currently the best in the Region), we still have to achieve the same in the rest, so we claim that the necessary measures are applied to make it possible.
This City Council will continue to be demanding and demanding with the improvement of health care in our municipal area, with the particular objective of shortening the terms of attention to the citizen.
Ruiz Jódar has stated that, as a result of the continuous meetings of work and demands of this Government Team, we have had proof that the Ministry of Health has also implemented new services and assistance at the Rafael Méndez County Hospital.
The Mayor himself, Fulgencio Gil, called on the Regional Government to establish measures to improve and accelerate care in the emergency service of the aforementioned hospital, so this month has proceeded to the implementation of a new triage system nurse the emergency door of the hospital.
A service that is added to the start-up last month of a resource for which we had been requesting solutions, such as the beginning of surgery operations for patients with morbid obesity, in addition to the implantation in April of the service of treatment received by oncology patients, which saves them displacements and discomforts.
The mayor of Health has said that the City will continue to demand all the resources needed to get the health care that Lorca deserve, some claims that in recent years have achieved investments in infrastructure by the Regional Government totaling 20 million euros, highlighting the second phase of the works in Santa Rosa de Lima, which has allowed the users to get closer to the center of the city, offering these outpatient gynecology and obstetrics outpatient clinics.

Ruiz Jódar has indicated that other investments already materialized have been the reform of the areas of gynecology, pediatrics, surgery, sterilization and resuscitation, in addition to those already underway in the sterilization center.
To these improvements will be added those that are going to be carried out in the facilities of the Health Center of San Diego, whose users will benefit from a significant expansion of their professionals, in addition to proceeding to the start of the works of the Pediatrics service. and its opening in the afternoon.
