Lorca will host on November 21 and 22 the 'XIV Technical Seminar on sanitation and purification', organized by the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, through the Regional Entity for Wastewater Treatment and Sanitation (Esamur), in which some 20 speakers from different countries will talk about the reuse of water and in which the assistance of some three hundred people is expected.
They will address the next European regulation of water reuse, which will begin to be debated in Parliament and the European Council shortly and is essential for the Region of Murcia, where 98 percent of reclaimed water (105 hectómetros) they are used for irrigation, which constitutes a reference in this field at a national and international level.
The purpose of the aforementioned regulation is to ensure that the best possible use is made of the water coming from urban wastewater treatment facilities, and that it constitutes a reliable alternative to water supply, a matter that will be discussed at different conferences during the conference. .
Presentations
The speakers will address various aspects such as the advantages of reusing reclaimed water, the challenges faced by the practice of reusing purified water to improve their already high safety and further increase the confidence of users and consumers, or official hygiene controls in agricultural production.
In addition, companies in the sector will present the practices they carry out.
Likewise, examples of reuse will be shown in various Spanish regions and in other Mediterranean countries and will be attended by the president of the Mediterranean Water Institute, Milagros Couchoud.
At the same time, other current issues such as emerging pollutants or resistance to antibiotics will be addressed, which will allow to know the scientific and technological advances in these fields.
Among the speakers are representatives of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Esamur, as well as representatives of public and private companies, universities in Spain and Europe and research organizations , among others.
