The Councilor for Equality of the City of Lorca, Juan Francisco Martínez, informed this morning that next Sunday, November 25, the Guerra Theater will host the institutional act in homage to the victims of gender violence organized by the Lorca Consistory in collaboration with the Federation of Women's Organizations of Lorca to commemorate the International Day against Gender Violence.

Juan Francisco Martínez pointed out that "November 25 is not yet another day in our calendar, but rather a day in which all of our city vigorously demonstrates its rejection and condemnation of gender violence. Lorca City Council want to honor this act to all victims of gender violence, to encourage people who are suffering this drama to denounce, but we also want to raise awareness among the population, especially the youngest, to say NO to this violence and teach them to act before any sign of violence that occurs around them. "

Councilman Equality has indicated that "this institutional act will begin at 11:30 in the Plaza de Calderón with the wreath in the monolith tribute to victims of gender violence." Juan Francisco Martínez has stated that "the Center for Specialized Care for Women Victims of Gender Violence in Lorca offers individual and group treatment to women victims of gender violence, providing the necessary support to enhance their social and psychological competences and to cope with success lived experiences, providing comprehensive, personalized and free care for the time necessary to break and get out of the situation of violence.

In this sense, the Councilor for Equality explained that "in the period from January 1 to October 31, 2018, the CAVI of Lorca has served 341 women, being the type of abuse most attended are the ill-treatment physical and psychological (38.42%) In relation to the age of the users, the most representative age range is between 31-40 years (29.62%), followed by the age range between 41-50 years (26.69%) Regarding nationality of origin, Spanish nationality is the most representative (67.45%, followed by Moroccan nationality (11.44%) and Ecuadorian nationality (10.85%) ".

Martínez Carrasco added that "with respect to the place of origin of the users of the CAVI, the most representative locality is Lorca (89.74%), followed by Puerto Lumbreras since the CAVI of Lorca also serves the users derived from that municipality However, women from municipalities that do not dare to go to the services of their localities or are temporarily in the city for work or family reasons, have also received women from the province of Alicante and Almeria, as well as different points of our Region ".

It should be noted that the CAVI of Lorca is located in the Women's Care Center, located on Cava street, and its morning hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and in the afternoon from 16 a.m. 7:30 pm (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and until 8:00 pm on Thursdays.
