III National Folklore Festival "Ciudad del Sol" (21/11/2018)

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, along with the President of the group of choirs and dances Virgen de las Huertas, Mari Huertas García, presented this morning the XIII edition of the National Folklore Festival "Ciudad del Sol", which is going to develop in the War Theater of our city on Saturday, November 24 with free admission until full capacity at 8:00 pm, at the conclusion of the traditional procession of the patron saint of the city, San Clemente.

Fulgencio Gil has indicated that "the protagonists in the thirteenth edition of the festival will be groups from the center of the peninsula, specifically, from the Community of Madrid and Castilla y León." The War Theater will host on its tables scenes of local costumbrista prints. the provinces of Madrid, Valladolid and the Region of Murcia, putting in value the rich cultural intangible heritage that Spain has ".

Gil added that "coming from Valladolid will be the Folklore Group Aires Castellanos de Arroyo de la Encomienda, which will show jotas castellanas and habas, being able, in addition, to know the traditional Espadaña, the identification dance of the province of Valladolid, which is characterized by the construction of a human tower during its interpretation ".
