The Office of Citizen Services of the Department of Housing is being an example for other municipalities, as well as the agreement with the Bar Association, the first of these characteristics signed by a local administration of the Region.

The Local Development Councilor of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, along with the general director of Planning, Architecture and Housing of the Autonomous Community, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, have opened this morning at the premises of the Local Development Center the third day of training on the Service of Orientation and Mortgage and Mortgage Mediation of the Region of Murcia (SOMH), in which twenty municipal technicians and professionals dedicated to assist people at risk of eviction participate.

Sandra Martínez explained that the example of municipal initiatives that were undertaken by the Consistory in this regard is serving as a reference for other cities.

It should be noted that our city was declared "Municipality Free of Evictions", ratifying the City Council's willingness to collaborate with the jurisdictional bodies in order to coordinate and study ways to ensure the permanence of families in their habitual residence.

The Consistory's commitment includes continuing to undertake municipal measures with the aim of guaranteeing the right to a decent home, always to the extent that their competencies allow it, facing the attention of the housing emergency.

Likewise, he expresses his opposition to any eviction of housing in which they are living minors.

The mayor of Local Development has stressed that the City Council takes appropriate measures to encourage large owners (financial institutions, banks and others ...), to allocate the empty homes of their property, to families in situations of social exclusion under social rent .

This is a situation that can not be alien to the intervention of the Local Administrations, having to start up as many actions as are necessary to give shelter to the citizens affected by this situation of economic crisis, coupled in many cases with the effects of the real estate bubble .

Intervention that materializes in actions, measures, programs, etc. that allow the citizens to improve their situation.

That is why the City of Lorca confirms its intention to continue acting accordingly and serve the residents affected by the situations described above, minimizing their situation of residential exclusion.

The Office of Citizen Services of the Department of Housing is being an example for other municipalities, as well as the agreement with the Bar Association, the first of these characteristics signed by a local administration of the Region with a professional association of lawyers, See the free legal support from the start to avoid a more complicated situation.

The City Council finances this agreement with a contribution to the Bar Association, in exchange for which lawyers inform families about the possibility of addressing the difficulties of paying the mortgage on their habitual homes;

advise in a personalized way about the concrete procedures that must be carried out before or at the beginning of the situation of non-payment of the mortgage;

help to find solutions agreed between the debtor and the bank for those situations that have the prospect of improvement or that, with certain changes in the relationship can achieve effective solutions that do not result in foreclosure;

and they will even use the residential intermediation mechanisms for situations related to possible foreclosures.

The General Director of Territorial Planning, Architecture and Housing, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, presented the day aimed at publicizing this free regional service to technicians from Águilas, Aledo, Alhama de Murcia, Mazarrón, Librilla, Lorca, Puerto Lumbreras and Totana .

Fernández Lladó explained that the Community has been providing this assistance for four years that mediates and negotiates on behalf of those affected by an eviction, and that thanks to an agreement with the Federation of Municipalities "extends the scope of SOMH so that it can be provided from the City Councils ".

The regional leader stressed that families at risk of eviction can avail of an aid of up to 400 euros per month to finance one hundred percent of the rent of a home.
