The Councilor for Culture and Celebrations of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, along with the representative of the Cuadrilla de Aguaderas, Isabel Morales, presented this morning the XV Traditional Folklore Contest "Campo de Lorca", an event that thanks to the extraordinary work developed by this group has become one of the great references in terms of costumbrismo and traditions of the region of Lorca and the closest areas.
Agustín Llamas explained that "with the arrival of December, the quintessential gang member is celebrated in the deputation of Aguaderas the Traditional Folklore Contest" Campo de Lorca. "This year, this event will take place next Sunday, December 2 from 11 in the morning at the hermitage of Aguaderas, at which time the Holy Mass will take place. At 12 noon the dances will begin with the gangs in the street, and at 2:00 p.m. we will have the opportunity to taste a lunch of typical products of our region, the dances and cantes will be resumed at 3:30 p.m. with the crews on the stage and at 8:00 p.m. there will be dancing loose ".
The Councilman of Culture has anticipated that "in addition to the host group, the participating groups this year are the Cuadrilla de Zarzadilla de Totana (Lorca), Auroros de Lorca (Lorca), Animeros de Cehegín (Cehegín), Animeros del Campo de San Juan (Moratalla), Cuadrilla de Sorbas (Almería) and Panda of Verdiales Roots of Málaga (Málaga) ".
Llamas pointed out that "this contest has its origin in the local squad meeting that was held in this district, taking the current format in 2004. In these 15 years for this contest have passed more than 40 traditional music groups from different points from Spain, including of course those from the region of Murcia.It can be enjoyed artisanal cuisine, loose dancing with participation of the public and performance of groups on stage, activities that make it a traditional festival framed in a rural setting at the foot of the Sierra de la Almenara, to which we invite all Lorca and neighbors from neighboring provinces to join us. "
El Edil de Cultura added that "it is a traditional folklore contest with a national character and although the event revolves around ancient popular music, you can also enjoy other parallel activities always related to popular traditions. of esparto crafts, exhibitions of ancient utensils, farm implements and preparation and tasting of homemade bread ".
This event has acquired a very important weight within the panorama of the meetings of folkloric groups of all the Spanish East.
Although the activity of the crew begins in the late 70s, and having gone through different stages, it is not until about 6 or 7 years ago when it takes a qualitative leap and enters fully into the "circuit" of meetings and festivals.
A gang formed by hospitable and grateful people, and that, like those of the Lorca area, exudes strength and impetus.
This group of people, made a laborious work of recovery and revitalization, getting put where it deserves to the repertoire of music and dances of Ánimas de Aguaderas.
