Adoración Peñas, councilor of IU-Green of Lorca has shown the discomfort of his group by the fact that the municipality of Lorca does not have access to the 497,299 euros of aid that will go to the conservation, maintenance and enhancement of six assets cultural events of incalculable value in the Region, once the public call for grants to the archaeological sites of municipal ownership existing in the Region, after meeting the Technical Assessment Commission, dependent on the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

The mayor recalled that municipalities such as Cartagena, Pliego, Totana, Jumilla, Fortuna or Puerto Lumbreras can benefit from this aid to restore, consolidate, even musealizar monumental spaces of such municipalities as prehistoric settlements, argáricos, Iberian, fortresses or thermal complexes.

Since IU-Greens regret that Lorca has once again been out of the great opportunities, in this case in the field of culture, having to dispense with aid to advance knowledge of past cultures, delve into our own history and raise awareness and value cultural heritage, being an initiative that is part of the actions of protection, promotion and dissemination of the heritage of the Region launched by the regional government.

Peñas alleges that this government team, with the mayor at the head, does not have the slightest interest in encouraging culture in our municipality, nor convert it into a source of economic, tourist and social development, having completely ignored this call for aid, and letting go all opportunities to improve cultural development in our municipality, as it happened with the proposal that the municipal group of IU-Green took to the municipal plenary to celebrate the opera in open, to mention just one example of the many that have sadly happened.

Since the formation of left demand the mayor, and the councilor of culture to be more "attentive" to these opportunities and at least move to not miss the new call that will be released early next year for those municipalities that have been outside.
