Fulgencio Gil: "The union of tradition and vanguard in the work of García Lorca is the benchmark of coexistence we need for our society" (19/12/2018)

The Mayor vindicates the teaching of the great Granada poet as an example of the Spain that our people claim, in which we all fit, building a common future from the solid base of our traditions, which now some attack by complexes already overcome.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has put as an example of the model of society that citizens propose, the union between tradition and avant-garde that Federico García Lorca was able to strengthen in his work.

He took the more traditional genres of the theater, with its themes and references, as well as the common forms of the verse and, through the rhythm, the word, the literary resources, transformed them into something completely different that would transcend the literary genres.

The First Edil stressed that the contribution of García Lorca's work transcends the literary and theatrical scene, because we are talking about a universal legacy, in which we can contemplate how the most traditional and traditional references, the signs of culture and identity of the Spanish, converge with the movements of evolution, giving rise to a better society, respectful of its culture, in which forces are added instead of despising and dividing.

His own life, truncated by the fratricidal war that Spain suffered, also shows us that only through words and understanding can human conflicts be overcome with guarantees, never through violence or force.

The Mayor has emphasized that here there is no room for insults or contempt for those who do not think like you, a fundamental part of our country, in which we are proud of our traditions, of the development of our peoples, of placing our nativity scenes in public spaces, celebrate Christmas, support our Holy Week, and practice and assist with freedom to our ancestral uses, such as bullfighting that both praised the poet, without fear of being insulted and despised by those who consider themselves superior by the simple act of thinking differently.

Fulgencio Gil has shared the words of Garcia Lorca when he said that "bullfighting is probably the greatest poetic and vital wealth of Spain, incredibly untapped by writers and artists, mainly due to a false pedagogical education" and that "the Toros is the most cultured festival in the world today, it is pure drama, in which the Spaniard spills his best tears and his best bile, it is the only place where he leaves with the certainty of seeing death surrounded by the most dazzling beauty. "

It is clear that ideology has never been an obstacle to recognize art and culture, even the one that is not understood, and that was also expressed by Rafael Alberti, Francisco de Goya, Manuel Machado, José Ortega y Gasset, Gerardo Diego, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, Vicente Alexandre, Pablo Neruda, and more recently Joaquín Sabina, Andrés Calamaro, Antonio Banderas and Pedro Almodóvar.

The Mayor stressed that Federico García Lorca is one of the best writers of the twentieth century, and not only in Castilian.

As a poet and as a playwright he bequeathed us a sensitive and delicate work that a century later has not only endured the harshness of time, but is still fully in force.

He was able to create a unique and unique literary universe, with images overflowing with symbolism that make up a unique and original poetic that is still debated today: the moon, the horse, water or metals.

Read The Gypsy Ballads, Poema del Cante Jondo or Poet in New York are full literary pleasures, masterpieces of our lyrics in a century as literarily rich in its beginnings as was the twentieth.

It is in the theater where the figure of Grenadian became giant.

The traditional rural drama became thanks to him in a solid genre, with characters that are part of the annals of the Spanish scene.

In a genre as difficult as the theater, because the characters that the writer imagines acquire life on stage, García Lorca became one of the greatest playwrights.

Today we find it located next to Lope de Vega, Calderón, Zorrilla or Valle-Inclán, to name some of the most famous authors of the Spanish scene.

The Mayor congratulated the Prince of Asturias Institute for the celebration of the Congress on the figure of Garcia Lorca, aimed at students in second year of high school, and that this year marks its X anniversary.

Thanks to the effort and commitment of the faculty, of its faculty and of generations and generations of students, this Congress has consolidated itself as an essential literary event. The search for a space in accordance with the presentations of the students has made the different editions of the congress they have been celebrated in places such as the Ateneo de Madrid, the Palacio de Cibeles of the same city, or the Palacio de Congresos in the city of Granada, the cradle of the poet.

Through this Congress students have the opportunity to deepen the work of García Lorca from research, learning, observing their works from different perspectives and sharing the keys of their studies in a public way so that other colleagues can assimilate them optimally.

The young students who participate in this cycle reinforce their knowledge for the study of the course and the PAU, but above all they learn to enjoy reading and everything that this art transmits to us in benefit of our intellectual growth.

The Federico García Lorca Congress, in which students from the Ramón Arcas Meca and Bartolomé Pérez Casas institutes participate as guests this year, has the main objective of providing students with the appropriate framework to live the experience of a congress from all its perspectives: the attendance to conferences, the contribution of papers, the organization of the own event and the acquisition of knowledge and the enrichment that the coexistence contributes, as well as the interdisciplinary character of the different proposed activities.

The students, speakers and assistants, are true protagonists of an event of a fundamentally pedagogical and cultural nature.

The development of the research capacity, the deep knowledge of the Literature, as well as the implication and learning of the different communicative strategies characteristic of a lecturer or speaker, are the basic pillars that support this educational experience.
