An abandoned pony in the vicinity of Los Pilones finds a home (04/01/2019)

The abandoned animal has been moved to the CIFEA of Lorca where he has found a home and will be useful for the educational work of the center

The Councilor for Health and Consumption of the City of Lorca, Mari Carmen Ruiz Jódar, has announced an event that occurred this week in Lorca, fortunately, has ended with a happy ending thanks to the participation of the Consistory Health Service.

Ruiz has reported that "on January 3 Local Police received several calls alerting of the presence of a pony tied with a very short rope to a pine in the parking lot of" Lorca, Taller del Tiempo ", located in Los Pilones, just a few meters from the Castle of the city. The veterinary services of the Department of Health of the City Council moved to the place, proving that it was a pony about 6 months, approximately, male and in good health.

The mayor stressed that "after making the appropriate inquiries it was discovered that the animal did not have a microchip nor had a known owner." In view of this situation, the decision was taken to move it to the facilities of CIFEA de Lorca, a center specialized in Agricultural Professional Training and Livestock dependent on the Ministry of Agriculture and Water of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, where it will be located temporarily with the aim of being useful for the educational work of the center, while ensuring the best welfare conditions animal for this pony that, after being abandoned, has found a home. "

Jódar Ruiz wanted to remember that "according to Law 6/2017, of November 8, protection and defense of companion animals of the Region of Murcia, the abandonment is considered a very serious violation so the person who abandoned could be sanctioned with a fine of 6,001 to 30,000 euros. The animal welfare is not a secondary or trivial matter, the guarantee of the living conditions of animals is a priority and the whole society has to work together to avoid abandonments like this, because not everyone has a happy ending, unfortunately these uncivil and cruel behaviors with animals are still too frequent in our society. "

Finally, the council has taken the opportunity to "congratulate the municipal services, especially veterinarians, for their rapid action, as well as the CIFEA for the facilities offered to welcome the small pony that has a home from now".
