204 swimmers from 22 clubs and schools participate in the Special Swimming Regional Championship held at the San Antonio Pool (23/01/2019)

The Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, has reported on the celebration this morning of the Regional Swimming Championship, within the 31st Special School Games, which took place in the Pool of San Antonio.

It is an event organized by the Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities of the Region of Murcia, FEDEMIPS, in collaboration with the Department of Sports of the City of Lorca.

The mayor has reported that "this activity is part of the Adapted School Sports Program developed by FEDEMIPS, developed with the collaboration of the General Directorate of Sports of the Autonomous Community, 204 swimmers belonging to 22 clubs, sports centers and special schools of the Region, highlighting the presence of the sports teams of Apandis and the Pilar Soubrier School ".

The activity began at 11 am, developing into two categories: competition and adapted.

In the first of the categories, 50 and 100 meters tests were played in the free and back modalities, as well as a relay test of 4 by 50 meters.

As far as the adapted category, the tests of 25 free meters and relays of 4 by 25 meters are included.

Bayonas wanted to "thank FEDEMIPS to bring this test to a city that, like Lorca, stands out for its ability to make sport a means of participation and integration, as shown by various activities throughout the year as the Sports Day the Integration of the Guadalentín Sports Games, the Apandis Football Championship and a long list of initiatives with which a great truth is claimed: everyone can enjoy sport ".
